Summary: Gailen Schneider, 73, of Hebron, ND, passed away February 26, 2024, at Sanford Health in Bismarck, ND. A funeral service was held March 1, 2024, at the First Congregational Church in Hebron with Pastor Marcy Dawson officiating. Burial was at the First Congregational Cemetery. Gailen “Geig” Schneider was born May 12, 1950, to Emil and Martha (Staiger) Schneider and had two siblings, Diane Schneider (Dave) and Dallas Schneider (Ruth). He was raised on a farm southwest of Hebron. He attended a country school for two years near the south farm and moved closer to Hebron where he graduated from Hebron Public School. Geig attended two years of college in Wahpeton on wiring (electrician). After college he came home to help his Dad farm and ranch. Geig and Linda were married in 1980 and settled on a farm southwest of Hebron. There for the past 43 years, they had three children, grew small grains, raised cattle, chickens, a few pigs and even buffalo. His greatest life joy was creating memorable farm experiences for his children, grandchildren and foster kids. He served multiple terms as a school board member, church board member, credit union board member, 4-H leader, member of the Rolling Hills Snowmobile Club, Boy Scout leader, drove extracurricular bus for the Hebron Public School, drove bus for the First Congregational Church and worked to enhance the First Congregational Church cemetery. Geig and Linda became foster parents in 2002 and they very much loved every child that came to live and leave their home. He loved it when he could joke with them, teach them farming and ranching skills. They adopted Nathen in 2020. He had a love for reading and cooking, especially new recipes. Geig had a gift of being able to talk to anyone he came in contact with, nobody was ever a stranger for very long. He filled the room with his laughter and witty one-liners. Geig is survived by his wife, Linda; two sons, Tye (Kimberly) Schneider, Nathen Schneider, all of Hebron; two daughters, Lacey (Brandon) Koenig, of Woodworth, ND, Trish Schneider, of Mott; foster kids, Anne, Dreamy and Breezy Morin, Teea and Ramon Torres, of Hebron, Annie Hutzenbiler and Chris Young, of Dickinson, Sky and Sara Neubauer, of Elgin; grandkids, Cedar, Saige, Briggs and Bridger Koenig, Jamison Comer, Xavier, Aleeana, Annica and Isiah Torres, Novah Neubauer, and Zoey Young.

Summary: The North Dakota Heritage Family Memorial Program is sponsored by the North Dakota Funeral Directors Association. The life stories of deceased North Dakotans are featured in an archvied collection. Current partners in the project are Eastgate Funeral & Cremation Services, Bismarck Evans Funeral Homes, Carrington and New Rockford Everson-Coughlin Funeral Home, Williston Fulkerson Funeral Home, Tioga Fulkerson Funeral Home, Watford City Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home, Williston Nero Funeral Home, Bottineau Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck Springan Stevenson Funeral Home, Stanley Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson These funeral homes provide recent obituaries to the Foundation, where staff and volunteers format, edit and archive each memorial. The memorials are posted, and copies are sent to the family for their input and approval. The listing currently features more than 13,000 memorials, and is constantly updated as new memorials and histories are received.
