Summary: Joe E. Schumacher, 78, Moffit, ND, passed away May 24, 2021. A celebration of life was held June 19, 2021, at the Mandan Christian Community Church, Mandan, ND. Joseph Eugene Schumacher was born to Wendelin and Christine (Baumgartner) Schumacher in Hague, ND, on December 15, 1942. He spent his childhood on the family farm until he enlisted in the Army. He proudly served as a mechanic from 1960 to 1963. Joe spent his life working in construction, building houses and remodeling. Later on, he worked in the oilfield until his retirement. Joe was a very social person (he never knew a stranger; he could strike up a conversation with ANYONE!), he loved spending time with friends and family sharing stories over a cup of coffee or a nice cold red beer. Joe loved to spend his time tinkering in his shop (there was nothing he couldn’t fix!), fishing, hunting, and attending his grandchildren’s school events. He will be greatly missed by his many friends and family. Joe is survived by his wife, Twila (McLean) Schumacher; sons, Ernest and Eddie Schumacher, both of Texas; daughter, Brenda (Jerry Wilson) Schumacher, Fortuna, ND, and her children Rachel (Clint) Risovi and their son Stetson, Kris Kanski and his children Breken and Rayne, Rosanne Kanski (Jordan), Valerie Kanski, Robert Kanski, and Kurits Kanski; daughter, Tina (Bernard) Haverluk, Walla Walla, WA, and her children Larissa and Nick Grosulak; daughter, Amy (Levi) Lanning, Sterling, and their children Chase (Lacey) Mickelson, Kobe Sivak, Sadie, Sierra, Cain and Colt Lanning, and two stepsons, Shane Walter and Kenneth Wagner. Joe is also survived by his brother, Mark (Mary) Schumacher, Missouri; sisters, Mary Gefroh and Pauline Jangula, both of North Dakota, Millie Hudson, Wyoming, Sally Buswell, Louisiana, and Angie Bernhardt, New Hampshire.

Summary: The North Dakota Heritage Family Memorial Program is sponsored by the North Dakota Funeral Directors Association. The life stories of deceased North Dakotans are featured in an archvied collection. Current partners in the project are Eastgate Funeral & Cremation Services, Bismarck Evans Funeral Homes, Carrington and New Rockford Everson-Coughlin Funeral Home, Williston Fulkerson Funeral Home, Tioga Fulkerson Funeral Home, Watford City Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home, Williston Nero Funeral Home, Bottineau Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck Springan Stevenson Funeral Home, Stanley Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson These funeral homes provide recent obituaries to the Foundation, where staff and volunteers format, edit and archive each memorial. The memorials are posted, and copies are sent to the family for their input and approval. The listing currently features more than 13,000 memorials, and is constantly updated as new memorials and histories are received.
