Summary: A Celebration of Life service for Nanette C. Strommen, 50, Dunn Center, ND, was held May 20, 2023, at Stevenson Funeral Home Chapel in Killdeer, ND. Nanette passed away May 16, 2023, at CHI, Dickinson, ND. Burial took place in Red Lodge, MT, at a later date. Nanette Coreen Joki was born in Billings, MT on July 6, 1972, the daughter of Harvey and Norma (Hill) Joki. She grew up in Laurel, MT, where she attended school and graduated from high school. She also attended college. Nanette worked several jobs, including the postal service. She lived on the Roberts’ Ranch for 16 years. Nanette married Verlyn Strommen in 1996 in St. Olaf Church in Montana. They were proud of the family they raised together. In 2002, Nanette and Verlyn moved to Dunn Center, ND. She gracefully fought the battle of her illness. Nanette enjoyed reading, baking and cooking. Holidays were her favorite and she especially loved April Fools and Christmas. She will be dearly missed. Nanette is survived by her mother, Norma Joki; her husband of 27 years, Verlyn; son, Vance; daughters, Elizabeth and Amanda; grandchildren, Malakye, Hannah, Payce, Augustus and RaiLeigh; sister, Julie Joki; and brothers, Kristopher, Kendall (Tarri) Joki. She was preceded in death by her father, Harvey Joki; and her grandparents.

Summary: The North Dakota Heritage Family Memorial Program is sponsored by the North Dakota Funeral Directors Association. The life stories of deceased North Dakotans are featured in an archvied collection. Current partners in the project are Eastgate Funeral & Cremation Services, Bismarck Evans Funeral Homes, Carrington and New Rockford Everson-Coughlin Funeral Home, Williston Fulkerson Funeral Home, Tioga Fulkerson Funeral Home, Watford City Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home, Williston Nero Funeral Home, Bottineau Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck Springan Stevenson Funeral Home, Stanley Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson These funeral homes provide recent obituaries to the Foundation, where staff and volunteers format, edit and archive each memorial. The memorials are posted, and copies are sent to the family for their input and approval. The listing currently features more than 13,000 memorials, and is constantly updated as new memorials and histories are received.
