Summary: Loretta Svihovec, 87, of Bismarck, formerly of Dickinson, ND, passed away April 26, 2024, at St. Gabriel’s, Bismarck. Mass of Christian burial was held May 6, 2024, at Queen of Peace Catholic Church with Monsignor Gene Lindemann celebrating. Burial was in St. Wenceslaus Cemetery. Loretta Wanner was born in New England, ND, on July 13, 1936, the daughter of Casper and Mary (Wandler) Wanner. She was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School in New England. She moved to Dickinson and worked at the movie theater where she met her future husband, married on September 14, 1959, in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in New England. Their marriage was blessed with five children. They moved to Bismarck, Fargo and Aberdeen before settling in their forever home of Dickinson in 1976. Loretta worked as an office administrator for Armstrong Corporation and later at Pizza Hut for over 25 years. She enjoyed camping and fishing in her early years. Later, bowling and playing cards became her favorite pastime. Loretta proudly followed her grandchildren and their activities, cherishing the time she was able to spend with them. She was a fond follower of the Dickinson State University Blue Hawks and Kansas Jayhawks. She served as a member of Queen of Peace Parish. Loretta will be remembered for her positive personality and infectious laughter. She often shared that her secret to life was “chocolate and Bud Light”! Loretta is survived by her sons, Todd (Stacy), of Kingwood, TX, Troy (Jamie), of Bowman, ND, Tyler (Michele), of Mandan, ND; daughters, Tricia Arndt, of Morris, MN, Tiffany Dietz, of Dickinson; 14 grandchildren, Tevin, Tristen, Tannah, Devon, Andrew, Jacob, Jillian, Shelby, Bostin, Riley, Camden, Levi, Ethan, Seth; seven great-grandchildren, Tara, Harper, Brecken, Daxten, Emerix, Aliyah, Braxton; and brother, Roger Wanner of Nashville, TN. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gary (1994); sister, Viola Melmer; brother, Lester Wanner; parents, Casper and Mary Wanner; and in-laws, Henry and Joyce Svihovec.

Summary: The North Dakota Heritage Family Memorial Program is sponsored by the North Dakota Funeral Directors Association. The life stories of deceased North Dakotans are featured in an archvied collection. Current partners in the project are Eastgate Funeral & Cremation Services, Bismarck Evans Funeral Homes, Carrington and New Rockford Everson-Coughlin Funeral Home, Williston Fulkerson Funeral Home, Tioga Fulkerson Funeral Home, Watford City Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home, Williston Nero Funeral Home, Bottineau Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck Springan Stevenson Funeral Home, Stanley Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson These funeral homes provide recent obituaries to the Foundation, where staff and volunteers format, edit and archive each memorial. The memorials are posted, and copies are sent to the family for their input and approval. The listing currently features more than 13,000 memorials, and is constantly updated as new memorials and histories are received.
