Summary: Lauren C. Van Rosendale, 86, Tioga, ND, passed away March 25, 2023, at the Tioga Medical Care Center in Tioga. His memorial service was held April 1, 2023, at Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home Chapel. Lauren was born to Florence Downing and Charles Van Rosendale in Miller, SD. He was raised and attended schools in Miller. He graduated in 1954 and then joined the United States Navy in 1954, and was honorably discharged in 1957 in San Diego, CA. He married Linda S. Ewing at The Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA, in February 1959. They had three children, Lyle, Laurene, and Lori. Linda and Lauren raised their children between Indiana and South Dakota. They later were divorced. Lauren worked as an inspector for the State of South Dakota Department of Transportation. He coached boxing in Hand County, SD, for upwards of 10 years. Lauren was known for being a great pool player, pinochle, and a serious competitor of playing cribbage. He wouldn’t go easy on opponents; you had to earn the win. He was the owner of the Skol Bar for many years. He would bring a lot of people into his life as customers that would also become friends. Lauren was very involved with the community and enjoyed driving the veterans bus. Lauren is survived by his children, Lyle (Tammy) Van Rosendale, Laurene (Steve) Long, and Lori (Jeff) Woods; brother, Donald (Beverly) Van Rosendale; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded by his parents; half-sister, Lotus Summer; and great-grandson, Austin Lee Byrer.

Summary: The North Dakota Heritage Family Memorial Program is sponsored by the North Dakota Funeral Directors Association. The life stories of deceased North Dakotans are featured in an archvied collection. Current partners in the project are Eastgate Funeral & Cremation Services, Bismarck Evans Funeral Homes, Carrington and New Rockford Everson-Coughlin Funeral Home, Williston Fulkerson Funeral Home, Tioga Fulkerson Funeral Home, Watford City Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home, Williston Nero Funeral Home, Bottineau Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck Springan Stevenson Funeral Home, Stanley Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson These funeral homes provide recent obituaries to the Foundation, where staff and volunteers format, edit and archive each memorial. The memorials are posted, and copies are sent to the family for their input and approval. The listing currently features more than 13,000 memorials, and is constantly updated as new memorials and histories are received.
