Summary: Larry “Butch” Weisz, 82, Bismarck, ND, died May 3, 2021, due to a stroke. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, private family services were held at Faith Lutheran Church, Bismarck. Burial was at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, ND. Larry was born November 25, 1938, to Peter and Elsie (Breitling) Weisz. He was raised and educated in Halliday, ND. He enlisted in the US Amy and was stationed from 1957-59 in Germany. He received his GED while in the Army. After an honorable discharge, he returned to the family farm in Halliday. On January 30, 1961, he married Jeanette Richau and they had three children, Tammy, Tricia and Scott. They farmed and ranched for 50 years. For the past 11 years, they enjoyed retirement in Bismarck. Butch loved to hunt, fish, golf, and watch Sunday afternoon football. He thoroughly enjoyed going to his grandchildren’s activities and being able to hand down his fishing equipment to his great-grandchildren. He was very involved in the community. He served on the ASCS committee, Union Bank board, school board, the rural fire department, and was president of the church council for two terms. We will miss him forever. Now every day is his “best day.” Butch is survived by his wife, Jeanette; children, Tammy (Ray) Krenz, Tricia Otterness (fiancé, Jerry), and Scott (Steph); grandchildren, Tanner (Crystal), Cody, Broc (fiancée, Kristen), Bailee and Paige; step-grandchildren, Kody, Kory, and Kyle (Kristal) Krenz; great-grandchildren, Mason and Xander Fox; step-great-grandchildren, Atticus, Truitt, and Tatum Krenz; sisters-in-law, Ardella Lazorenko, Faith (Randy) Keller, Hope (Jerry) Brensinger, and Norma Weisz; and brother-in-law, Dale (Linda) Richau. He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Elsie; brother, Victor; parents-in-law, Irvin and Tina Richau; and nephew, Boe Keller.

Summary: The North Dakota Heritage Family Memorial Program is sponsored by the North Dakota Funeral Directors Association. The life stories of deceased North Dakotans are featured in an archvied collection. Current partners in the project are Eastgate Funeral & Cremation Services, Bismarck Evans Funeral Homes, Carrington and New Rockford Everson-Coughlin Funeral Home, Williston Fulkerson Funeral Home, Tioga Fulkerson Funeral Home, Watford City Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home, Williston Nero Funeral Home, Bottineau Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck Springan Stevenson Funeral Home, Stanley Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson These funeral homes provide recent obituaries to the Foundation, where staff and volunteers format, edit and archive each memorial. The memorials are posted, and copies are sent to the family for their input and approval. The listing currently features more than 13,000 memorials, and is constantly updated as new memorials and histories are received.
