Summary: Raymond Iverson of Stanley, ND, passed away June 2, 2024, at the age of 80 at the Tioga Medical Center surrounded by loved ones. His funeral service was held June 8, 2024, at First Lutheran Church in Tioga, ND. He was laid to rest at the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Tioga. Raymond James Iverson was born at home to Louis and Dorothy Iverson on December 7, 1943, in Farmvale Township rural Tioga. Raymond was the fourth of six children. He and his siblings grew up on the farm where they helped with daily chores and attended country school at the Iverson school. On October 12, 1962, Raymond married the love of his life, DeAnne Thompson, at the White Earth Church. Raymond’s dad, Louis, had to sign the marriage certificate as he was not yet 18 years of age. Raymond and DeAnne made their home in Tioga, and raised three children, Darren, Susan, and Jason. They also helped to raise DeAnne's younger sister Debbie. He and his family would spend time when possible enjoying many trips to South Dakota, Medora, Reno, NV, Las Vegas, Carlyle Lake, and other local areas. He and DeAnne also took a special trip to Hawaii and several trips to the San Francisco Bay area. Raymond, as many did during this time, began working as a teenager wearing many hats throughout his career. Raymond first began working at the Basin Station as a gas attendant. He also worked at Service Specialty Company as did his dad and some of his brothers. At that time, he recalled insulating a tank battery south of the river the day that JFK was assassinated. The longest portion of his career was spent with Republic Steel and Republic Supply Company. During this time, he would meet some of his lifelong friends and coworkers. Raymond became a district manager for the company overseeing Republic Supply stores in Tioga, Williston, Dickinson, Sidney, MT, Gillette, WY, Fort Morgan, CO, and Kimball, NE. Raymond and his long-time coworker, Harlan Germundson, pitched their vision of a True Value Hardware Store to the president of Republic Supply Company. The first of the True Value Hardware stores opened in the former Blikre Motors Building in Tioga, later expanding to Williston, Minot, Bismarck, Devils Lake, and Glendive, MT. In later years, Raymond was also employed with Dresser Oil Tools in Stanley. Raymond exceeded his education and had a very keen sense of business and sales. He instilled his organization and business skills in his children. Farming was also a big part of Raymond's life. His passion for farming came from his father, Louis. Raymond farmed alongside his brother Ronnie before Jason joined the operation later. Raymond went from being the head honcho and farm boss to becoming Jason's gopher. After DeAnne passed in 2007, Raymond moved to Stanley in the spring of 2008 where he began his role as a dual parent, grandparent, and great-grandparent. Raymond never bought a lot of gifts but always put a few bucks in the most heartfelt cards and a special personalized note. Raymond's favorite TV shows were the Waltons, Gunsmoke, and MASH. He cursed most weather reporters as the only thing they talked about was the wind blowing. He never said goodbye, but always “later then.” Raymond is survived by his children, Darren Iverson (Alain Truong), Susan (Jay) Wolla, Jason (Christy) Iverson; five grandchildren, Brittany (Trevor) Rice, Kaytlin (Justin) Vejtasa, Kasandra (Brett) Feiring, Riley Iverson, and Abby (Kaydin) Meiers; great-grandchildren, Tayton, Rylan and Shaylee Rice, Aubrey, Alaina, and Haven Vejtasa, Jacie and Jake Feiring, and baby Meiers due in July; a brother, Bobby (Hazel) Iverson; a sister, Donna (Gary) Larson; brothers-in-law, Steven Thompson, Don Kjosen, Joe Ness; sisters-in-law, Rena Iverson, Joan (Jerry) Long, Bev Thompson, Penny Thompson; and numerous nieces and nephews. Raymond was preceded in death by his beloved and dear wife, DeAnne; parents, Louis and Dorothy Iverson; brothers, Gerald, Louis Jr, Richard and Ronnie Iverson; sister, Linda Iverson; brothers-in-law, Larry Thompson, Jerry Thompson; sisters-in-law, Ilene Iverson, Betty Thompson, Verlee Kjosen, Edith Elvick, Sandra Cremer, and Debbie Ness.
