Summary: Rena Olheiser, 58, of Dickinson, ND, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on July 28, 2024, at CHI St. Alexius Hospital in Dickinson. A funeral Mass was held August 2, 2024, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Dickinson with Father Kregg Hochhalter celebrating. A private family burial was held at a later date. Rena Sue Cooper was born on November 18, 1965, in Baton Rouge, LA, to Thomas and LaVal (Loewen) Cooper. She was raised on a farm north of Hazen, ND, and graduated from Hazen High School. She attended Dickinson State University and graduated with her teaching degree. Rena married Randy Olheiser on November 28, 1987, in Hazen. Soon after marriage, the couple moved to Dickinson and raised their family. Teaching was Rena’s greatest passion. She began working as a special education teacher at numerous schools around the area, later landing her dream job as an English teacher at Trinity Junior High and High School. She loved to read, camp, and hangout with her kids. Being a grandmother was her greatest joy. Rena is survived by her husband, Randy, of Dickinson; mother, LaVal Cooper, of Hazen; her children, Cooper (Elizabeth) Olheiser, Bayli Sutton, Molly (Garrett) Hickel, all of Dickinson, and Chris (Heather) Olheiser, of Bismarck; son-in-law, Ryan Sutton; and grandchildren, Colton, Mallory, and Lucy Olheiser, Nora and Jace Sutton, Noura Hickel, and Braxton and Maddox Olheiser. She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Cooper; brother, Clay Cooper; and her best friend and cousin, Vicki Kilzer.

Summary: The North Dakota Heritage Family Memorial Program is sponsored by the North Dakota Funeral Directors Association. The life stories of deceased North Dakotans are featured in an archvied collection. Current partners in the project are Eastgate Funeral & Cremation Services, Bismarck Evans Funeral Homes, Carrington and New Rockford Everson-Coughlin Funeral Home, Williston Fulkerson Funeral Home, Tioga Fulkerson Funeral Home, Watford City Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home, Williston Nero Funeral Home, Bottineau Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck Springan Stevenson Funeral Home, Stanley Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson These funeral homes provide recent obituaries to the Foundation, where staff and volunteers format, edit and archive each memorial. The memorials are posted, and copies are sent to the family for their input and approval. The listing currently features more than 13,000 memorials, and is constantly updated as new memorials and histories are received.
