Summary: Austin L. Baker passed away on October 8, 2024. Funeral services were held October 12, 2024, at Johnny Bird Memorial Building in New Town, ND, with burial in Holy Scout US Cemetery, Shell Creek, ND. Austin Lance Baker “Little Buffalo” Midéègaadi garíshada was born on March 30, 2000, to Tracy Halvorson and Kevin Baker Sr. at Trinity Hospital in Minot, ND. Austin was a member of the Knife Clan and a child of the prairie chicken clan. He attended school in New Town, Minot, ND, and Arizona. He was a quiet and laid back one in the family, never one to test the waters. Austin lived with his mother most of his life in Bakersfield located in New Town. He spent a brief period with his father in Minot, and Arizona. On one of his many adventures, he went to stay in Wagner, SD, with his brother Robert and nephews. Austin was the third youngest in the family. The only person he ever disagreed with was his twin brother, Vance. Otherwise he was a humble and kind soul. He loved being an uncle, he was patient when it came to his nieces and nephews. He was free spirited and would play with them. Austin loved to tease and talk smack to his siblings. Growing up, his hobbies were to go fishing and playing video games. He was so adventurous and enjoyed riding jet skis and dirt bikes with his brothers and nephew. He also took off from treatment in California and he got to experience being a homeless person for twenty-four hours. Austin was a mama’s boy, always stuck to our mom’s side like a little woodtick. Austin is survived by his parents, Tracy Halvorson, New Town, and Kevin Baker, Sr., of Arizona; sisters, Tiffany Beston (Stan) and Angel Smith, both of North Dakota, Victoria and Gabriel Baker, both of Arizona; brothers Christopher Beston (Jenn), Robert Smith (Char), Joshua Halvorson, Vance Baker, Kevin Baker, Jr., all of North Dakota, Merle Baker, John Baker, and Casey Baker, of Montana; aunts, Kathy Church (Robert Jr.) and Carmen Halvorson, both of North Dakota, and Mary Ellen Baker, of Texas; uncles, Anthony Halvorson (Valerie), Kermit Halvorson, Jr., Ervin Halvorson, Sr. (Carmen), Julius Halvorson (Florene), all of North Dakota, John Baker, of California, and Darryl Baker, (Parmalee), of Montana.
