Summary: Laurlynn Joy Browning, of Williston, ND, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and community member, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on September 6, 2024, at the age of 83. Her funeral Mass was held September 12, 2024, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Williston, ND, with Father Paul Eberle officiating. She was laid to rest next to her husband at the Calvary Cemetery of Yakima, WA, on September 17, 2024. Laurlynn was born February 21, 1941, to Edwin and Edith Abbitt in Seattle, WA. On November 21, 1956, Laurlynn met Court at a Catholic Teen’s dance in Yakima. They married on March 5, 1960, at the Pearl Harbor Naval Base in Honolulu, HI. Upon Court’s retirement from the Navy, the couple moved to Williston. They celebrated 60 years of marriage until Court’s passing in 2020. Laurlynn wore many hats serving her community, as a pre-school educator, a community services employee for Senior Citizens and a cook for Mercy Medical Center. She was a devout and dedicated Catholic and member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where you could often find her volunteering for various events, a member of the St. Joseph’s Altar Society, Catholic Daughters of America, St. Joseph’s Quilters, and a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary, Mercy Medical Center Auxiliary and Women of the Moose. Laurlynn enjoyed stamp and coin collecting, cooking, cleaning, sewing, crocheting and crafting, and especially creating and sharing in events with her grandchildren. Laurlynn is survived by her children, Desiree Disney, of Hawaii, Derek (Charity) Browning, of California, and Sabrina (Jake) Marburger, of North Dakota; brother, Robert (Sharon) Abbitt, of Washington; grandchildren, Samantha Weese, Cassandra Browning (Ben Trowbridge), Corrina Hanson (Briana White), Gwendolyn Hanson (Matt Copperthite), Deacon Marburger, Ava Joy Marburger (Emily Kaatz), and Adara Marburger. Numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Court Browning; son, Virgil Lee; three infant sons, Derek I, Lucius and Marcellus; infant daughter, Maria; father, Edwin T. Abbitt; mother, Edith Wilson; stepfather, John Wilson; brother, Thomas L. Cooke.

Summary: The North Dakota Heritage Family Memorial Program is sponsored by the North Dakota Funeral Directors Association. The life stories of deceased North Dakotans are featured in an archvied collection. Current partners in the project are Eastgate Funeral & Cremation Services, Bismarck Evans Funeral Homes, Carrington and New Rockford Everson-Coughlin Funeral Home, Williston Fulkerson Funeral Home, Tioga Fulkerson Funeral Home, Watford City Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home, Williston Nero Funeral Home, Bottineau Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck Springan Stevenson Funeral Home, Stanley Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson These funeral homes provide recent obituaries to the Foundation, where staff and volunteers format, edit and archive each memorial. The memorials are posted, and copies are sent to the family for their input and approval. The listing currently features more than 13,000 memorials, and is constantly updated as new memorials and histories are received.
