Summary: Gerald D. Brown, 76, of Keene, ND, passed away peacefully on December 16, 2024, at the McKenzie County Health Center in Watford City, ND. His funeral service was held December 20, 2024, at the Clear Creek Lutheran Church in Keene, with Pastor Peder Stenslie officiating. Gerald David Brown was born to George and Clara (Sivertson) Brown on November 13, 1948. He grew up on the farm near Keene. Gerald attended Sand Stone School in rural Keene and Mandaree Public School. He also attended college in Wahpeton taking up small engine repair. He was very proud of the fact that he attended college there. In 1969 Gerald married Donna Wintermeyer and they had five children. Gerald worked in the oil field doing various jobs in his younger days followed by working as a ranchhand for various ranchers. Some of them were Joe Berger, Joe Schaff, Wayne Smith and Willard Kieson. Gerald enjoyed raising horses. Everything from riding, breaking and breeding horses were right up his alley. He also enjoyed raising gardens. Gerald spent many hours doing leatherwork, everything from making belts to repairing saddles. Besides gardening, Gerald enjoyed hunting and fishing and enjoyed time with his grandkids. He was looking forward to meeting his great-grandbabies. Gerald is survived by his five children, William (Bill), Wayne, Loralie Lund, Colleen (George) Zeiszler and John (LeAnna); five grandchildren, Matthew Duchene, Cheyenne Lund, Jamie (Jordan) Brown, Preston (Shayla) Brown and Ashley Brown; two great-grandchildren, Lainey and Daniel Brown; “Bonus” daughter, Kelle O’Brian; siblings, Carole Berwald, Calvin (Sharon) Brown, Loretta Akovenko and Burton (Lorna) Brown; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Gerald was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Vernon, Myron, Marlin, and baby brothers, Arnold and Duane; sister, Betty; brothers-in-law, Loren Berwald, George Akovenko and Arvid Terry; and one sister-in-law, Olive Brown.

Summary: The North Dakota Heritage Family Memorial Program is sponsored by the North Dakota Funeral Directors Association. The life stories of deceased North Dakotans are featured in an archvied collection. Current partners in the project are Eastgate Funeral & Cremation Services, Bismarck Evans Funeral Homes, Carrington and New Rockford Everson-Coughlin Funeral Home, Williston Fulkerson Funeral Home, Tioga Fulkerson Funeral Home, Watford City Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home, Williston Nero Funeral Home, Bottineau Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck Springan Stevenson Funeral Home, Stanley Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson These funeral homes provide recent obituaries to the Foundation, where staff and volunteers format, edit and archive each memorial. The memorials are posted, and copies are sent to the family for their input and approval. The listing currently features more than 13,000 memorials, and is constantly updated as new memorials and histories are received.
