Summary: Barbara Cartwright, 75, of Dickinson, ND, passed away January 23, 2025. A funeral service was held February 7, 2025, at Stevenson Funeral Home in Dickinson. Barbara Jean was born May 27, 1949, in Nashville, TN, to James William Beasley, Sr. and Leila Francis Anthony Beasley. ?In 1967, she graduated a year early with honors from Meigs High School, the first Black American High School in Nashville. ?She married her high school sweetheart, Richard Lee Cartwright, on February 19, 1969. They were blessed with a daughter, Jinger Alexia, and a son, and Richard Lee, Jr. Barbara was always a loving and compassionate person. When tragedy struck, first with the loss of her father and later with the loss of her mother, Barbara Jean and her husband helped to rear her two younger brothers. ?Throughout her life, she continued to open her home and her heart to those in need. She worked in various administrative roles in real estate and insurance before beginning her career with the State of South Carolina. ?She retired after 26 years of working under the administration of two South Carolina State Governors, the SC Department of Transportation, and the SC University system. She obtained her Associate of Secretarial Science from the Hume-Fogg School in Nashville, and in 1991 obtained a degree in the teaching ministry from Rhema Bible Training Center, Tulsa, OK. ?Her ministry pursuits led her to serve in a support and administrative role in Liberia, West Africa on two separate six-month missionary tours. Barbara was a longtime member of Daniel Circle Chapel in Columbia, SC and later joined Tabernacle of Praise Christian Fellowship of Columbia, SC, pastored by Harry R. Reed, Jr. ?This remained her church home until her departure. Barbara leaves to cherish her loving memory, two daughters, Jinger A. Burton, of Houston, TX , Rebekah E. Cartwright, of Dickinson; son, ?Richard L. Cartwright, Jr., of Dickinson; seven grandchildren, Gabriel A. Cartwright, Rachel E. Cartwright, Caleb B. L. Cartwright, ?Michael I. Cartwright, Noah E. Cartwright, Jeremiah B. Cartwright, and Mary R. Cartwright; three brothers, James W. Beasley, Jr. (Bernice), of Nashville, Frank L. Beasley (Gwen), Nashville, TN and Thomas G. Beasley, Sr. (June); very close cousin, Joyce Anthony Valentine (John M.); a host of favorite nephews and nieces; other relatives and very close family and friends. Barbara was preceded in death by her father, James William Beasley, Sr.; mother, Leila Francis Beasley; and two brothers, Charles E. Beasley, Sr. and Anthony J. Beasley, Sr.

Summary: The North Dakota Heritage Family Memorial Program is sponsored by the North Dakota Funeral Directors Association. The life stories of deceased North Dakotans are featured in an archvied collection. Current partners in the project are Eastgate Funeral & Cremation Services, Bismarck Evans Funeral Homes, Carrington and New Rockford Everson-Coughlin Funeral Home, Williston Fulkerson Funeral Home, Tioga Fulkerson Funeral Home, Watford City Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home, Williston Nero Funeral Home, Bottineau Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck Springan Stevenson Funeral Home, Stanley Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson These funeral homes provide recent obituaries to the Foundation, where staff and volunteers format, edit and archive each memorial. The memorials are posted, and copies are sent to the family for their input and approval. The listing currently features more than 13,000 memorials, and is constantly updated as new memorials and histories are received.
