Vernon M. Lysford was born on September 29, 1960 in Karlstad, MN, the third of five children of Melvyn and Irene (Wallace) Lysford. He grew up in Kennedy, MN, and graduated from Kennedy High School in 1979. He attended University of North Dakota and graduated from the University of Minnesota-Morris in 1983.
