Summary: Thomas Edwards, Jr., “Young Buffalo” “Mideegaadi-giirabe Garishda” 40, died on January 30, 2025, at his home in Mandan, ND. His Mass of Christian burial was held February 6, 2025, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Mandaree, ND. Thomas was born on September 22, 1984, in Watford City, ND, to Thomas Edwards, Sr. and Emma White Owl. He grew up in Killdeer, ND. He attended school in Killdeer, Mandaree, and also attended Job Corps. He lived on the family ranch. He enjoyed his childhood. He loved to play darts, wrestling, ice skating and sledding, camping and fishing, swimming. He was his Dad’s righthand man when it came to doing mechanical work and fixing anything on the ranch. He later moved to Mandaree, ND, in his teen years where he met Wendy Fox. They had three children together, Matthew, Thomas III and Honey. Later in life he met Dawn Cavanaugh and had two children, Ash Edwards and Honor Edwards. He worked various jobs. His favorite one was working in the oilfield on the rigs. His eyes, smile and sense of humor was something everyone loved about Thomas. Thomas is survived by his sons, Matthew Edwards, of New Town, Thomas III, of New Town, Ash Edwards, of Cottage Grove, MN; daughters, Honey Edwards, of New Town, and Honor Edwards, of Cottage Grove; siblings, Joan and Andy Kulish, of Anchorage, AK, James Edwards (Linda), of Everett, WA; sister-in-law, Avis Finley, of Parshall, ND, Jassen White Owl (Toni), of New Town, Nina Finley, of Mandaree, Lana Conklin, of Eden Prairie, MN, Allen Edwards, of Mandaree, Mathilda Fettig (Fritz), of Mandaree, and Mindy Edwards (Matthew) of White Shield, ND. Thomas was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; brothers, Edward Finley and Ricky Finley; and several nieces and nephews.

Summary: The North Dakota Heritage Family Memorial Program is sponsored by the North Dakota Funeral Directors Association. The life stories of deceased North Dakotans are featured in an archvied collection. Current partners in the project are Eastgate Funeral & Cremation Services, Bismarck Evans Funeral Homes, Carrington and New Rockford Everson-Coughlin Funeral Home, Williston Fulkerson Funeral Home, Tioga Fulkerson Funeral Home, Watford City Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home, Williston Nero Funeral Home, Bottineau Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck Springan Stevenson Funeral Home, Stanley Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson These funeral homes provide recent obituaries to the Foundation, where staff and volunteers format, edit and archive each memorial. The memorials are posted, and copies are sent to the family for their input and approval. The listing currently features more than 13,000 memorials, and is constantly updated as new memorials and histories are received.
