Summary: Glenn E. Long, born April 22, 1927, to Lawrence E. and Agnes (Maske) Long at York, ND, died peacefully on February 26, 2016, in Bismarck, ND. Services were held at March 3, 2016 at Lutheran Church of the Cross, Bismarck, with Rev. Donna Dohrmann officiating. Burial was in the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, ND. After graduating from York High School, Glenn was drafted into the Army Air Corps, and was stationed in Japan. He was honorably discharged from the service in 1946 and returned to North Dakota enrolling at Minot State College to pursue a degree in business. He later transferred to University of North Dakota. Glenn’s working career started at the Union National Bank in Minot. While in Minot he met and married Lauretta Lunde of Silva, ND. After their marriage, they lived in Minot and started their family with the birth of their first son, Gerald (Jerry). They later moved to Bottineau where Glenn worked at North Central Electric for a short time before taking a position as office manager at Baker Electric in Cando, ND. Glenn and Lauretta lived in Cando for 10 years where they added David, Larry, Carla, and Roger to their family. Glenn was hired as manager at North Central Electric in 1962, with the family returning to Bottineau, ND. He retired from North Central in 1987. Glenn was an innovator during his time at North Central bringing in one of the first computer systems in the state. He was very involved in the community, being one of the founding members of the group who started the Bottineau Winter Park. Glenn joined a local group of investors who purchased the stock of the State Bank of Bottineau in 1981. He was an active member of the bank's Board of Directors until the time of his death. After retirement, Glenn and Lauretta traveled frequently, enjoying warmer climates in the winter and returning to North Dakota for many summers. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and family get-togethers. Glenn is survived by his wife Lauretta; sons, Jerry (Connie), Larry (JoAnn), Roger (Linda), daughter Carla (Jeffrey), and daughter-in-law Cheryl (David); his grandchildren, Wade (Jocelyn), Scot (Melissa), Holly (Mike), Derek, Mitch, Margo, Jacob (Brittany), Beth (Zach), and Josh; his great-grandchildren, Kylie, Kieffer, Kambree, Addison, and Weston; his brother, Carl (Marlys); his sisters, Lucille and Lavon; and several nieces and nephews. Glenn was preceded in death by his parents and son David.

Summary: The North Dakota Heritage Family Memorial Program is sponsored by the North Dakota Funeral Directors Association. The life stories of deceased North Dakotans are featured in an archvied collection. Current partners in the project are Eastgate Funeral & Cremation Services, Bismarck Evans Funeral Homes, Carrington and New Rockford Everson-Coughlin Funeral Home, Williston Fulkerson Funeral Home, Tioga Fulkerson Funeral Home, Watford City Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home, Williston Nero Funeral Home, Bottineau Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck Springan Stevenson Funeral Home, Stanley Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson These funeral homes provide recent obituaries to the Foundation, where staff and volunteers format, edit and archive each memorial. The memorials are posted, and copies are sent to the family for their input and approval. The listing currently features more than 13,000 memorials, and is constantly updated as new memorials and histories are received.
