Sherman Phillip Hines was born on March 17, 1939 in Denver, CO to Harvey and Pauline (Ostwald) Hines. He moved with his parents and siblings to Glendive when he was a child.  He attended school in Glendive, graduated from Glendive High School in 1957, and attended Dawson Community College. Sherman met Dolores in Glendive, where they married in 1959 and lived there until 1966.  Dennis arrived in 1961 and Sherri in 1965, while they were still living in Glendive.  They moved to Williston in 1966.  Dwayne joined the family in 1969.  Sherman worked as a mechanic at several different service stations over the years. He joined the crew at Williston Parks and Rec around 1994.  He worked at the Parks and Rec until he retired in October, 2013. Over the years, Sherm was a mainstay at the local ballparks, football fields, basketball courts, etc.  He truly loved sports and followed the Coyotes and Tetons for several decades and generations.  He was involved with the baseball program and was part of the Coyote football chain gang.  Sherm lost his wife of 49 years in June 2009.  Going to ballgames kept him going and he continued to go to all the different sporting events until he moved to Bethel Lutheran Nursing home in July 2014, after being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s.  He was active in the activities at Bethel, participating in crafts, helping decorate for holidays, and attending Bible Study. Sherman was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores; his parents; his sister, Paulette; and brother, Rodger.  He is survived by his brothers, Gene, Harvey, Robert, and Jack; his children, Dennis Hines of Battle Ground, WA; Sherri McCrory (David) of Plentywood, MT; and Dwayne Hines of Williston, ND.  He is also survived by his grandchildren, Erin & Derek Hines of Battle Ground, WA, Shae Wilemon of Billings, MT, Jerod and Paige McCrory of Plentywood, MT, Tabitha (David) Lossing of Plentywood, MT, and Lexi and Tyler Hines of Williston, ND and numerous nieces and nephews.
