Summary: Vernon Doll, 77, Mandan, passed away August 29, 2016 at Jacobson Memorial Hospital in Elgin. Mass of Christian Burial was September 2, 2016 at Christ the King Catholic Church, Mandan, ND with Rev. Josh Walz as celebrant. Burial took place at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery. Military Honors were provided by the Mandan VFW Post #707 and American Legion Post #40. Vernon was born on May 28, 1939 in Mott, ND where he was raised on a farm by his parents, Christ and Kathryn (Boehm) Doll. Vernon graduated from the Assumption Abbey in Richardton in 1958. After high school he went on to the military and joined the Air Force serving in the supply field until he was honorably discharged in 1963. Following his service he returned to North Dakota and worked at the Heskett Power Plant from 1963 until he retired in 1998. Vernon married Sheryn Eggert in 1968 and they began their lives together in Mandan, ND. They have two sons Terrance and Shannon, who were the pride and joy of their lives. Vernon enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling the country and visiting family and friends. He enjoyed the outdoors, playing cards and spending time with his grandchildren. Vernon was a kind man and decided later in life to become a donor to the UND School of Medicine Program. He was devoted husband as his wife was diagnosed with MS in the early 1990’s and she became wheelchair bound. Vernon was her primary caregiver after his retirement; he built a handicapped accessible home for them. Vernon and Sheryn were married for 48 years. Vernon will be deeply missed by his wife, Sheryn; sons, Terrance (Kate), Blair, MN and Shannon, Mandan, ND; grandchildren; sister, Linda (George) Feist, Florence, MT; brother, Armon (Kathy), OR and several nieces and nephews.

Summary: The North Dakota Heritage Family Memorial Program is sponsored by the North Dakota Funeral Directors Association. The life stories of deceased North Dakotans are featured in an archvied collection. Current partners in the project are Eastgate Funeral & Cremation Services, Bismarck Evans Funeral Homes, Carrington and New Rockford Everson-Coughlin Funeral Home, Williston Fulkerson Funeral Home, Tioga Fulkerson Funeral Home, Watford City Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home, Williston Nero Funeral Home, Bottineau Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck Springan Stevenson Funeral Home, Stanley Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson These funeral homes provide recent obituaries to the Foundation, where staff and volunteers format, edit and archive each memorial. The memorials are posted, and copies are sent to the family for their input and approval. The listing currently features more than 13,000 memorials, and is constantly updated as new memorials and histories are received.
