Summary: Enid M. Monger, 92, Bismarck, died October 5, 2017, at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, Bismarck. Services were held at 11:00 am Monday, October 9, at Bethel Lutheran Church, 615 E. Turnpike Ave., Bismarck. Visitation was from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm Sunday, October 8, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, where a prayer service began at 6:00 pm. Burial was at 2:00 pm Monday at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. Enid was born April 20, 1925, in Fargo, ND, the daughter of Max and Anna (Swenson) Stach. She grew up on a farm near Wolverton, MN, where she was baptized at Mitchel Lutheran Church on June 28, 1925.  The family moved to Callaway, MN, and she was confirmed on November 5, 1939, at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Enid attended rural elementary and high school in Detroit Lakes, MN. Enid married John Doden in 1945, and the couple had one son, Dwight.  John passed away in 1953.  Enid and son Dwight lived in Breckenridge, MN, where she worked in retail until her marriage to Vernon Monger on December 31, 1956, at Grace Lutheran Church.  To this union, five children were born, Bonnie, Karen, Becky, Vernice, and Kirk.  Enid enjoyed spending her time raising her children, cooking, reading, and fishing. Enid lived by three strong values Faith, Family and Friends.  Her faith was always the most important.  She was an active member in the church with LWML.  Enid was involved with Sons of Norway and loved the annual lutefisk dinners.  She enjoyed sharing the gift of making lefsa with her grandchildren. In her last days, Mom said she had 60 wonderful years with her best friend.  Enid and Vernon enjoyed spending every Friday evening dancing. Enid's love language was her cooking. She would spend endless hours in the kitchen and we would always look forward to her goodies. Enid loved sending letters with her Christmas cards although typically they may not arrive until Easter. Enid truly blessed the family with her love and presence. Once when asked what she would say to her family about her life, she replied, “The years have been so great and quick, like a twinkle of the eye. You have all been my greatest treasures.” Enid is survived by her husband, Vernon, Bismarck and their children, Dwight J. (Brenda) Monger, Bismarck, Bonnie L. (Steve) Chase, Bismarck, Karen J. (Mike) Wiest, Elk River, MN, Becky J. (Don) Lindstrom, Babbitt, MN, Vernice C. Dabu, Apple Valley, MN, and Kirk V. (Mimi) Monger, Eden Prairie, MN; 17 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; her brother, Gordon Stach, Great Falls, MT; her sisters, Gloria Moore  and Joyce Bush, both of Great Falls, MT; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, John; her brothers, Elton and Robert Stach; and her sisters, Sylvia Wentworth, Eunice Maxwell, Fern Peterson, Gladys Edlund, Audrey Groth, Vivian Ramsey, and Virginia Weigel.

Summary: The North Dakota Heritage Family Memorial Program is sponsored by the North Dakota Funeral Directors Association. The life stories of deceased North Dakotans are featured in an archvied collection. Current partners in the project are Eastgate Funeral & Cremation Services, Bismarck Evans Funeral Homes, Carrington and New Rockford Everson-Coughlin Funeral Home, Williston Fulkerson Funeral Home, Tioga Fulkerson Funeral Home, Watford City Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home, Williston Nero Funeral Home, Bottineau Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck Springan Stevenson Funeral Home, Stanley Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson These funeral homes provide recent obituaries to the Foundation, where staff and volunteers format, edit and archive each memorial. The memorials are posted, and copies are sent to the family for their input and approval. The listing currently features more than 13,000 memorials, and is constantly updated as new memorials and histories are received.
