Carol was born on October 31, 1932, to Albin and Ethel (Kibby) Swanson at Sanish, ND. She was raised and attended school in the Sanish area. When attending a rodeo in Sanish, Carol met a very special cowboy by the name of Edward Dodge. After a grand courtship, they were married on November 13, 1949. They were each other’s lifelong companion and friend. They worked for area ranches and lived in various places in western North Dakota throughout their marriage. Carol loved her two cats, Nervie and Tippy, going for walks, gardening, watching her favorite television show, Lawrence Welk, and raising her five boys. She enjoyed attending her sons' sports activities and school involvements and later in life listening to her trusty radio to all WCHS basketball games. She was a faithful letter writer to her sons, Farley, Mark and Scott, as they served in the military. Carol also enjoyed quilting and coffee time with Celia and their friends at the 1st Lutheran quilting group. Carol had dedicated her life to her family and was always proud of her Swedish heritage. Carol loved her caretakers at the Good Shepherd Home where she had lived for numerous years and called all of them by the nickname she gave them -“Sugar.” Carol is survived by five sons, Farley (Donna), Janesville, WI, Cameron (Jan), Keene, ND, Mark (Cynthia) Queen Creek, AZ, Edward Guy, and Scott, both of Watford City, ND; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
