Summary: Marie Joy Treftz, 75, of Watford City, ND, passed away at Wibaux County Nursing Home Friday morning, May 9, 2025. A Celebration of Life service was held May 17, 2025, at the First Lutheran Church in Watford City. Marie Joy Edeburn was born February 27, 1950, to Betty Emerald (Bahls) Edeburn and Alvin Dennis Edeburn. She grew up in Lambert, MT, and graduated from Lambert High School in 1968. After graduating high school, Marie raised her children and worked in restaurant management and in business administration. She graduated from Montana State University in 1993 with her bachelor’s in business administration. Marie enjoyed fishing and gardening. She loved listening to Neil Diamond and Elton John. She also enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Surviving Marie are her children, Holly (Tim) Bouma, of Colorado Springs, Rhonda Bourne, of Watford City, Tina (Todd) Kostad, of Watford City, David Red Fox, of Watford City; grandchildren, Bobby (Kaeley) Brown, Dillon (Kristina) Brown, Kira Kostad (Patrick Dennis), Angelyn (Zach) Sonderegger, Brindin (Lila) Kostad, Jaxson Kostad, and Cassidy (Nathen) Pederson; great-grandchildren, Caidyn, Damien, Kallie, Asher, and Camden, Icelynn, Tommy, Elijah, Brooklyn; sisters, Phyllis Meyer, Bonnie Knadler, Penny Ruhd, Melanie Biscoe; and several nieces and nephews. Welcoming her into Heaven are her parents, Dennis and Betty Edeburn, and her godson, John Winterrowd.

Summary: The North Dakota Heritage Family Memorial Program is sponsored by the North Dakota Funeral Directors Association. The life stories of deceased North Dakotans are featured in an archvied collection. Current partners in the project are Eastgate Funeral & Cremation Services, Bismarck Evans Funeral Homes, Carrington and New Rockford Everson-Coughlin Funeral Home, Williston Fulkerson Funeral Home, Tioga Fulkerson Funeral Home, Watford City Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home, Williston Nero Funeral Home, Bottineau Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck Springan Stevenson Funeral Home, Stanley Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson These funeral homes provide recent obituaries to the Foundation, where staff and volunteers format, edit and archive each memorial. The memorials are posted, and copies are sent to the family for their input and approval. The listing currently features more than 13,000 memorials, and is constantly updated as new memorials and histories are received.
