Summary: Eugene W. Edwardson, 93, Carrington, ND, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of March 27, 2025 at CHI Carrington Medical Center, due to complications from congestive heart failure. A funeral service was held April 1, 2025, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Carrington. Burial was at the Kvernes Cemetery, rural Carrington. Eugene was born October 29, 1931, in Carrington, ND, to Olaf M. and Willett E. (Bonnie) Edwardson. He was raised on the family farm in rural Carrington, and attended a one-room school in Nordmore Township through the 8th grade. He worked on the family farm raising cattle, small grains, flax, and sunflowers. On October 3, 1954, Eugene was united in marriage to Clara Ann Reise. Eugene and Clara made their home on the family farm. Eugene was a graduate of the National Radio Institute correspondence course where he learned to repair televisions, two-way radios, and small electrical appliances. In addition to farming, he operated Eugene’s Electronics and Sound from the mid 1960s through the mid 1980s, in which he sold and serviced televisions, two-way radio systems, and also installed public address systems in several area churches. Eugene was confirmed at Kvernes Lutheran Church of rural Carrington, where he was an active member for many years. In later years, he was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Carrington, and more recently attended Federated Church in Carrington. Eugene enjoyed the outdoors, namely hunting deer, pheasant, and waterfowl. In 2018, he had a North Dakota elk tag and successfully harvested a respectable bull elk. He also enjoyed photography, drives in his Polaris Ranger, and watching the Outdoor channel on his big screen TV. He had a jolly attitude and enjoyed making people laugh over his stories and humorous sayings. Eugene is survived by his wife of 70 years, Clara; his son, Steven Edwardson and his wife Diane, West Fargo, ND; granddaughters, Olivia Edwardson, and Megan (Eric) Johnson, Fargo, ND; sisters, Nancy (Gary) Manuel, Houston, TX and Myrna Gullion, Houston, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Martin; and a sister, Elinore.
