Summary: Kathy Cranston, 71, of Dickinson, formerly of Hatton, ND, passed away April 30, 2025, at her home in Dickinson. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. A funeral service was held May 8, 2025, at St. John Lutheran Church in Hatton. Burial was in the church cemetery. Kathy was born on January 12, 1954, in Rugby, ND, to Jack and Delores (Bertsch) Solway. She grew up in Esmond, ND, and graduated from Esmond High School in 1972. She married Donald “Scott” Cranston on October 7, 1972. The couple lived in Grand Forks, ND, for a few years before moving to Hatton. Kathy worked at Prairie Village Nursing Home in Hatton. After Scott passed away in 2020, Kathy eventually moved to Dickinson to be closer to Randy and his family. Kathy was a bit of a jack of all trades and was always the family problem solver. She was a crossword puzzle enthusiast. She also enjoyed gardening, watching and feeding birds, hanging out with her pets, and playing the casino slots. Kathy was a beloved mother and grandmother. She loved her family and enjoyed gathering them all around the table. She was a great host and made everyone feel welcome in her home. Kathy is survived by her daughter, Lisa (Jeff) Clucas; son, Randy (Mandie) Cranston; grandchildren, Morgan, Britton, Donovan, Boston, Beckett, and Felix; brothers, Jeff (Cindy) Solway, Mark (Angie) Solway, Keith Solway, Kelly Solway, Scott (Steph) Solway, and Rory (Lisa) Solway; sisters, Deb (Chris) Hager and Becky (Scott) Reierson; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Delores; husband, Donald “Scott”; brothers, Greg and Jack; and a sister, Jackie.

Summary: The North Dakota Heritage Family Memorial Program is sponsored by the North Dakota Funeral Directors Association. The life stories of deceased North Dakotans are featured in an archvied collection. Current partners in the project are Eastgate Funeral & Cremation Services, Bismarck Evans Funeral Homes, Carrington and New Rockford Everson-Coughlin Funeral Home, Williston Fulkerson Funeral Home, Tioga Fulkerson Funeral Home, Watford City Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home, Williston Nero Funeral Home, Bottineau Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck Springan Stevenson Funeral Home, Stanley Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson These funeral homes provide recent obituaries to the Foundation, where staff and volunteers format, edit and archive each memorial. The memorials are posted, and copies are sent to the family for their input and approval. The listing currently features more than 13,000 memorials, and is constantly updated as new memorials and histories are received.
