Summary: Donald "Don" Alden Bennett, 88, of Carrington, N.D., passed away peacefully on the morning of June 5, 2018, with his wife by his side. Funeral service were June 9 at the Federated Church UCC/UMC, Carrington, N.D. Burial was at the Carrington Cemetery Rev. Rick Loewen officiated, special music was provided by ArvaDell Tahran. Casket bearers were Michelle Hagen, Duston Hagen, Amanda Bruning, Josh Bruning and Scott Bennett. Don was born November 23, 1929, in Jamestown, N.D., the son of Alden and Annie (Thomson) Bennett. He grew up on the family farm helping with the farming and ranching in the Edmunds area. He attended school in Carrington, graduating from Carrington High School in 1947. Don was united in marriage to Donna Chaney on September 25, 1951, in Jamestown. They made their home in Edmunds, N.D., where they farmed and ranched. Together they raised four children. They moved to Carrington in 1989, and moved into the Golden Acres Estates in the fall of 2017. When Don wasn’t farming you could see him “going for a drive” around the local countryside. He and Donna spent winters in Arizona for over 35 years. He was a member of the Carrington Federated Church, prior to that he was a member of Pingree Congregational Church. He was also a member of the Pingree School board for many years. Don is survived by his wife Donna, Carrington; daughter Denise Bennett, Owatonna, MN; son Daren (Chery) Bennett; Pingree; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; sister Laura Hall, Jamestown. He was preceeded in death by his parents; one son Darcy Bennett; brother Bill Bennett; two sisters Annie Kollman and Clarella Dalby.

Summary: The North Dakota Heritage Family Memorial Program is sponsored by the North Dakota Funeral Directors Association. The life stories of deceased North Dakotans are featured in an archvied collection. Current partners in the project are Eastgate Funeral & Cremation Services, Bismarck Evans Funeral Homes, Carrington and New Rockford Everson-Coughlin Funeral Home, Williston Fulkerson Funeral Home, Tioga Fulkerson Funeral Home, Watford City Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home, Williston Nero Funeral Home, Bottineau Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck Springan Stevenson Funeral Home, Stanley Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson These funeral homes provide recent obituaries to the Foundation, where staff and volunteers format, edit and archive each memorial. The memorials are posted, and copies are sent to the family for their input and approval. The listing currently features more than 13,000 memorials, and is constantly updated as new memorials and histories are received.
