Summary: Lillian “Maxine” Hayward, 101, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2025, at the Bethel Lutheran Nursing Home in Williston, ND. A funeral service was held March 1, 2025, at the Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home Chapel in Williston. Burial was in Alexander Cemetery in Alexander, ND. Lillian "Maxine" Hayward was born on December 9, 1923, the seventh of eight children, to Murl Hayward and Marian (Hudson) Hayward. She attended the Haydraw School through 8th grade and then she went to high school at the School for the Deaf in Devils Lake, ND, graduating in 1941. She was the only one in her family to attend high school. Maxine lived with her parents until their deaths and then moved to Williston and worked at Bethel Lutheran Home for 15 years. Maxine had a cheerful personality and loved to tease. She had many hobbies, but she excelled at crocheting. She crocheted a large wall hanging of the Lord’s Supper that she donated to Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in Williston. She was a member at the Light of Christ Lutheran Church. After her health started to fail, she moved to Bethel Home and resided there until her death. She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and special friends, Candy and Galen Huwe. Maxine was preceded in death by her sisters, Ellen McRae, Blanche Rindahl, Alice McIntyre, Nellie Pierce and Eunice Olson; brothers, Gene Hayward and Roland Hayward.

Summary: The North Dakota Heritage Family Memorial Program is sponsored by the North Dakota Funeral Directors Association. The life stories of deceased North Dakotans are featured in an archvied collection. Current partners in the project are Eastgate Funeral & Cremation Services, Bismarck Evans Funeral Homes, Carrington and New Rockford Everson-Coughlin Funeral Home, Williston Fulkerson Funeral Home, Tioga Fulkerson Funeral Home, Watford City Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home, Williston Nero Funeral Home, Bottineau Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck Springan Stevenson Funeral Home, Stanley Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson These funeral homes provide recent obituaries to the Foundation, where staff and volunteers format, edit and archive each memorial. The memorials are posted, and copies are sent to the family for their input and approval. The listing currently features more than 13,000 memorials, and is constantly updated as new memorials and histories are received.
