Summary: Pembra R. Christensen Bergstrom, 63 years young, resided in Watford City, ND, until her passing on August 27, 2025; she was with those she loved, out to eat supper to celebrate Mark’s birthday. A funeral was held September 3, 2025, at First Lutheran Church, in Watford City. Burial was at Schafer Cemetery in Watford City. Pembra was born on July 30, 1962, to Rich and Patti Christensen in Watford City. She started 1st grade at Keene, as her parents lived in Charleson, in the oil camp. In 1968 the Christensens moved to Watford City. Pem attended Watford City School from 2nd through 7th grade. Like many others, Pem attended Arnegard School for 6th grade. When Pem was 12, Richie’s job moved the family to Powell, WY. Her senior year, she moved in with the neighbors until graduation. After graduation Pem joined her family in Casper, WY, and started working at the nursing home while attending Casper College. Pembra was hired by Texaco in Denver, CO, and shared the weekly ride from Casper to Denver with her dad. Pembra met and worked with Scott Bergstrom of Rockford, IL. They were married on May 2, 1987, and made their home in Parker, CO. Pem attended college in Denver, then transferred to Bakersfield, CA, where she remained at Texaco, continuing to work for the company for 20 years. Pembra later divorced. For years, Pembra was an avid runner, even running in a few marathons. When she was settled in Watford City, she loved to attend basketball and football games with her dad. She also enjoyed golfing with her dad. Pem loved her animals and was an avid reader. She spent three of her happiest years with her companion, Rick DeChellis. Pembra will be missed by many. Pembra is survived by her mother, Patti Christensen; her brother, Mark Christensen; her beloved companion, Rick DeChellis; along with several cousins. Pembra was preceded in death by her beloved father, Richard Christensen; her aunts, uncles, and her grandparents.

Summary: The North Dakota Heritage Family Memorial Program is sponsored by the North Dakota Funeral Directors Association. The life stories of deceased North Dakotans are featured in an archvied collection. Current partners in the project are Eastgate Funeral & Cremation Services, Bismarck Evans Funeral Homes, Carrington and New Rockford Everson-Coughlin Funeral Home, Williston Fulkerson Funeral Home, Tioga Fulkerson Funeral Home, Watford City Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home, Williston Nero Funeral Home, Bottineau Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck Springan Stevenson Funeral Home, Stanley Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson These funeral homes provide recent obituaries to the Foundation, where staff and volunteers format, edit and archive each memorial. The memorials are posted, and copies are sent to the family for their input and approval. The listing currently features more than 13,000 memorials, and is constantly updated as new memorials and histories are received.
