Summary: LaDonna Kay Hatch, 78, of Sykeston, ND, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2025, due to complications from injuries from a car accident on June 13, 2025. She was surrounded by her loving family at the time of her passing. Her funeral service was held August 29, 2025, at the Federated Church UCC/UMC, Carrington, ND. Burial was at Melville Cemetery, Melville, ND. LaDonna was the second child of six born to Sherman and Merljean Montgomery on June 3, 1947. She attended country school through the 8th grade and then attended high school and graduated from Carrington High School in 1965. She attended business school at Aaker’s Business College in 1966. She met her loving husband, Richard, at a dance at Rainbow Gardens in August of 1965. They were happily married on November 2, 1968, and were blessed with four children. After various moves for employment and family, LaDonna and Richard found their perfect place to live and raise their family in Cannon Beach, OR. They lived there from 1981 until 1997, when Richard retired and they returned to North Dakota. While living in Oregon, LaDonna worked as a retail clerk while the kids were in school. She was instrumental in organizing the Christmas Basket Program through the Cannon Beach American Legion for families in need. That program is still going to this day to help those who need a little help. She attended all of her children’s activities and even a few that their friends were involved in. Every one of the kids’ friends and even a few interns with the Cannon Beach Police Dept. knew her as “Mom.” She was the biggest cheerleader to have in your corner. She was the first to support anyone who needed it, especially her kids. After returning to North Dakota, she became involved in the community as much as possible. She started working at 4th Corporation in 2002 and worked with them until she retired in 2012. She filled her time by crocheting afghans and blankets for the Sanford Children’s Hospital in Fargo and the Veterans at the VA Hospital. She also made gloves, caps, and scarves for kids and adults who needed them. She is survived by her husband, Richard; their children, Krista Taylor, Kim Hatch (Christa), Karen Hatch, and Karla Collins; grandchildren, Samantha Taylor Lee (Damarvis) and her children, Marley Taylor, Zemirah Lee, and Jasper Lee, Sabrina Taylor and her children, Zoey Taylor, Isabelle Aughenbaugh, Cody Hatch and his daughter Raelynn, Shai-Anne Hatch-Collins and her children Evelyn Lutman, Elijah Matejka, Jennifer Joyce, Isaiah Hatch-Collins and his son Zayn Collins, Cameron Hatch-Collins, and Morgan Hatch; brothers, Mitch Montgomery (Judy) and Kelly Montgomery (Ginny); sister, Janell Anderson (Ed); sisters-in-law, Linda Peavey and Sharon Brown (Bill); brother-in-law, Robert Olson; and numerous nieces and nephews. LaDonna was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jerry; sister, Vicki Sommer; sisters-in-law, Sandra Olson and LaVerna Andress; brothers-in-law, Gary Andress and Orville Hatch Jr.; father- and mother-in-law, Orville Hatch Sr. and Irene Hatch; and granddaughter, Monica Hatch.
