Summary: LaVerne Koppinger, 71, of Dickinson, ND, passed away August 5, 2025, at St. Benedicts Health Center. Funeral Mass was held August 12, 2025, at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Dickinson with Msgr. Thomas J. Richter celebrating. Burial was at St. Mary's Cemetery in New England, ND. LaVerne was born in Dickinson on March 2, 1954, the daughter of John, Sr. and Margaret (Kostelecky) Anton. Growing up, she attended grade school in Dickinson, later moving with her family to Taylor where she was a 1973 graduate of Taylor High School. LaVerne was employed as a waitress for Country Kitchen in Dickinson where she would meet her future husband, Jerald Koppinger. The couple was married on July 23, 1976, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. LaVerne and Jerald were blessed with three children. LaVerne had a special talent of crocheting, creating hundreds of projects, most notably doll dresses. She enjoyed gardening, working in flower beds, camping trips, and listening to audio books. LaVerne proudly assisted Jerry when he served as Knights of Columbus Grand Knight. Spending time with her family and attending family sporting events always brought her great joy. LaVerne is survived by her husband of 49 years, Jerald “Jerry” of Dickinson; son, Joshua Koppinger of Dickinson; daughters, Melissa Koppinger of Bismarck, Roberta (Brian) Fischer of Prior Lake, MN; two grandsons, Karsten and Michigan Fischer; siblings, Darlene (David) Jilek of South Heart, Jim (Betty) Anton, Larry (Belinda) Anton, Wendy Anton, David Anton all of Dickinson; sister-in-law, Dawn Anton. She was preceded in death by her parents, John, Sr. and Margaret Anton; brothers, Jeff Anton, Scott Anton, John Anton Jr.

Summary: The North Dakota Heritage Family Memorial Program is sponsored by the North Dakota Funeral Directors Association. The life stories of deceased North Dakotans are featured in an archvied collection. Current partners in the project are Eastgate Funeral & Cremation Services, Bismarck Evans Funeral Homes, Carrington and New Rockford Everson-Coughlin Funeral Home, Williston Fulkerson Funeral Home, Tioga Fulkerson Funeral Home, Watford City Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home, Williston Nero Funeral Home, Bottineau Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck Springan Stevenson Funeral Home, Stanley Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson These funeral homes provide recent obituaries to the Foundation, where staff and volunteers format, edit and archive each memorial. The memorials are posted, and copies are sent to the family for their input and approval. The listing currently features more than 13,000 memorials, and is constantly updated as new memorials and histories are received.
