Summary: Kalen Jade Nestell, Sr., 26, of Fort Totten, ND, began his journey to the spirit world on September 11, 2025, at home, with his grandmother, Wanda Thomas. A funeral service was held September 18, 2025, at Crow Hill Rec. Center, Fort Totten. Burial was at the St. Jerome’s Catholic Cemetery, Fort Totten. Kalen Jade Nestell, Sr. was born September 7, 1999, to Roberta Brown and Wade Nestell Sr. Kalen, also known as "pooh-pooh," a nickname given to him by his older brother Taylor when he was a baby. He attended school in Minnewaukan. He loved playing basketball and was on the Woodlake traveling team during the summers. He stayed with his coach, Dennis Smith, during the traveling season. He loved spending time with his friends, siblings, and his children. Kalen is the godfather of Khloe Whisper Nestell. In 2022, he met the love of his life Raylene Cordova. He is survived by his mother, Roberta Brown; siblings, Taylor (Castle) Nestell, Kobe Nestell, Winona (Cecelia "Angel") Nestell-Hosie, Kenyon (Rustina) Longie, Leyton (Sydney) Nestell and Wade Nestell Sr; special cousins, Sean-Deja WalkingEagle, Nathaniel Twohearts, Jaelyn Twohearts, Julia Twohearts; children, Kalen Nestell Jr., Kayden Nestell, Kameron, Aiden, Braymoni, Kaioni, Brayziah, Cordova; love of his life, Raylene Cordova; grandmother, Cathy Twohearts; grandpa, Daniel Nestell; special aunt, Jonelle "Jemellie" WalkingEagle. He was preceded in death by his father, Wade Nestell, Sr., grandmothers, Julia Rita Twohearts, Joyce Thomas, Marilyn Thomas, and Anna Thomas; grandfather, Robert Brown Sr.; his beloved papa, Fred Longie Sr.; cousin, Durell Keo; favorite uncle, Kendal Youngbear, and best friend, Ashton Thompson.

Summary: The North Dakota Heritage Family Memorial Program is sponsored by the North Dakota Funeral Directors Association. The life stories of deceased North Dakotans are featured in an archvied collection. Current partners in the project are Eastgate Funeral & Cremation Services, Bismarck Evans Funeral Homes, Carrington and New Rockford Everson-Coughlin Funeral Home, Williston Fulkerson Funeral Home, Tioga Fulkerson Funeral Home, Watford City Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home, Williston Nero Funeral Home, Bottineau Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck Springan Stevenson Funeral Home, Stanley Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson These funeral homes provide recent obituaries to the Foundation, where staff and volunteers format, edit and archive each memorial. The memorials are posted, and copies are sent to the family for their input and approval. The listing currently features more than 13,000 memorials, and is constantly updated as new memorials and histories are received.

  • You can print the image and its corresponding details by selecting “Print".
  • “Digitized Images from the Collection” returns a list of all digitized items within that collection (available from the “Collection Summary” screen).
