Summary: Cody Allen Ingebretson, Carrington, ND was born Oct. 25, 1990 to Janette and Todd Ingebretson. His life ended too soon on Oct. 30, 2020. Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal. Funeral Service was held Wednesday, November 4, 2020, at 10:00AM at Trinity Lutheran Church, Carrington. Cody was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church, Carrington. His aunts, Terry, Deb, and Bobbi were his God parents and loved him dearly.Cody graduated Carrington High School in 2009 and attended Bismarck State College where he graduated Lineman School. In 2010, Cody enlisted with the North Dakota National Guard, he was currently a Specialist with the 15th Engineer Company in Edgeley, ND, where his duty was an Interior Electrician.   Cody… Cody, Cody! Whether this was said by his parents or other family members as to question, his decision-making or by his niece, just because it sounded funny, it was heard often. Cody was a young man full of life and ready to take on the world. Cody had a passion for all he did and everything Cody did was done his way. As a little tike, Cody was quiet at home. While his siblings were off playing and full of energy, he was happy just being off to himself. He was often teething on Golden books, which he chewed several, or eating soap in the bathtub just to see the bubbles. Cody loved his naptime and even as an adult could spend the whole day lounging around watching western movies and cartoons. His secret to staying young was having no sense of time.  Cody’s sense of staying out of trouble was to run to Grandpa Lloyd’s lap the minute he saw him. Grandpa would always protect Cody and they could sit and watch cartoons all day. As a teenager, Cody enjoyed sports, he was an extremely fast runner in track, played a little football and loved wrestling. His siblings, Tyler and Katie were always there to look after Cody. Tyler would always be there in tough times to pull him out when stuck, help fix what he broke, because he went through several vehicles, or even take the wrap when his decisions weren’t the best. Katie filled in as his personal secretary, covering his business and banking matters, because Cody was a busy guy. Cody’s love of hunting and fishing ran deep.  Rather by himself or with family, his skills were spot on and he usually had his tag filled early in the season. He even beat Tyler at the ‘Big buck contest” last year.  One of his proudest moments was catching a 44” Northern while ice fishing with his friend Pat. Pat always joked with Cody they should have shared custody of that fish, but Pat said “it was so much fun watching Cody fight that big bastard, I let him keep it.” Animals were a big part of Cody’s life, especially his pets. Cody loved his dogs, Leonard and Buddy, and his buckskin horse Ellie. A love of the land and farming developed the last few years and was definitely instilled by his time spent with Dave and Sue Swanson. Cody had respect for what Dave had to teach him and absorbed more than Dave knows. Cody even talked about politics, pretty sure that came from discussions between him and Dave. This was definitely a positive time in Cody’s life.  Friends were like family to Cody. He had a loyalty to them and hoped they did to him. Whether it was at the Lonesome Dove, hunting, and just out “booze cruising” time with friends meant everything. Although there are many stories that can’t be told here, the memories are many. Cody didn’t need to have a new vehicle or new home or any of the things most of us strive for. He knew what was most needed in life, that was family and friends. Left to mourn his loss are his parents Janette Ingebretson, Carrington, (Neil Cary, Ponsford, MN), Todd Ingebretson (Susan Stoddard), Carrington; siblings Tyler (Kylee) Ingebretson, and Katie (Zac) Creviston; nieces Rilynn and Reegan Ingebretson and Harper Creviston all of Carrington. His friend and closest to his heart Trish Bertsch, Lincoln, ND. Grandparents Ellen Ingebretson, Carrington and Don and Betty Patton, Johnson Siding, SD and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Cody was preceded in death by his grandpa, Lloyd Ingebretson, and his uncle, Jay Winning.
