Summary: Alvin Kreis, 91, of Bismarck formerly of Glen Ullin, passed away Friday, October 9, 2020, at Caring Edge in Mandan. A graveside service was at 2:00 p.m. CT, Monday, October 19, 2020, at Glen Ullin Cemetery. Alvin Leslie Kreis was born April 3, 1929, to Carl and Emilie (Nicholaus) Kreis. He lived on the family farm until moving to Glen Ullin in 1955. Alvin was drafted into the United States Army on February 12, 1952 and was honorably discharged in November of 1954. Alvin married Delores Zimmerman in New Leipzig on October 16, 1957. Alvin and Delores ran the Kreis Ranch together until 1999. Alvin enjoyed music from an early age. In 1937, he learned to play the piano and played for many bands throughout the years. He purchased his last piano in 2005 and played until Delores’ passing in 2008. Alvin served two terms as Director for the Elgin Hospital and 15 years as an Observer for the Weather Bureau. Alvin is survived by his cousin, Valdie Magstadt; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. He is preceded in death by his wife, Delores Kreis; parents, Carl and Emilia Kreis; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Summary: The North Dakota Heritage Family Memorial Program is sponsored by the North Dakota Funeral Directors Association. The life stories of deceased North Dakotans are featured in an archvied collection. Current partners in the project are Eastgate Funeral & Cremation Services, Bismarck Evans Funeral Homes, Carrington and New Rockford Everson-Coughlin Funeral Home, Williston Fulkerson Funeral Home, Tioga Fulkerson Funeral Home, Watford City Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home, Williston Nero Funeral Home, Bottineau Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck Springan Stevenson Funeral Home, Stanley Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson These funeral homes provide recent obituaries to the Foundation, where staff and volunteers format, edit and archive each memorial. The memorials are posted, and copies are sent to the family for their input and approval. The listing currently features more than 13,000 memorials, and is constantly updated as new memorials and histories are received.
