Summary: Alice Lucille Ewine, 92, Bismarck, passed away Dec. 16, 2020, at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, Bismarck. Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 22 at Eastgate Funeral Service, 2302 E Divide Ave, Bismarck, with Rev. Brandon Vetter of Bismarck officiating. Because of COVID-19, the family opted for a small immediate family-only service. For those unable to attend, a service livestream was available on the funeral home’s website. Burial was at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck. Alice L. Haas was born on March 31, 1928, at Eureka, South Dakota to Adolph and Albina (Hagel) Haas. She attended country school and graduated from Eureka High School in 1946. She married Walter A. Delzer on Aug. 23, 1946, at Herreid, S.D. They made their home in Artas, S.D., where Alice was a homemaker. They had eight children, four girls and four boys. After her children were older, she was also employed part-time at the Artas Post Office as a  postal clerk. In 1980 Alice moved to Bismarck to help care for her aging parents. She took employment at St. Alexius (CHI) Medical Center as a housekeeper and retired in 1993. Alice’s husband, Walter, passed away in Nov. 1992, and she married John D. Ewine on July 17, 1999. Alice was a member of Legacy United Methodist Church and later McCabe United Methodist Church in Bismarck. She was a member of the Faith Circle women’s group and the church quilters. After her retirement in 1993, Alice worked as a volunteer for the Burleigh County Senior Adults Program for more than 18 years, answering phones and working at the reservation desk. Alice was also a member of the Bismarck Senior Center Singers for many years. She also enjoyed quilting, reading, and playing dominoes with her friends. Alice enjoyed travelling and she flew to Germany numerous times to visit two of her daughters who were living there. In 1980 she also travelled to Kenya, East Africa, whereone of her daughters was currently serving as a missionary. Survivors include four sons: Duane (Kay) Delzer and Clayton (Lori) Delzer, both of Mobridge S.D., Jeffrey (Cynthia) Delzer, Biloxi, Miss., and Brian Delzer, Hill City, S.D.; four daughters: Sandra Delzer, Oscoda, Mich., Cynthia (Dan) Tracy, Kienberg, Germany;  Debra (Hans) Mellert, Bismarck, and Denise Bauer, Globe, Ariz.; brother, Vernon (Carol) Haas, Sun City, Ariz.; 17 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. Also surviving her are five step children and numerous step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren. Alice was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; and two husbands.

Summary: The North Dakota Heritage Family Memorial Program is sponsored by the North Dakota Funeral Directors Association. The life stories of deceased North Dakotans are featured in an archvied collection. Current partners in the project are Eastgate Funeral & Cremation Services, Bismarck Evans Funeral Homes, Carrington and New Rockford Everson-Coughlin Funeral Home, Williston Fulkerson Funeral Home, Tioga Fulkerson Funeral Home, Watford City Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home, Williston Nero Funeral Home, Bottineau Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck Springan Stevenson Funeral Home, Stanley Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson These funeral homes provide recent obituaries to the Foundation, where staff and volunteers format, edit and archive each memorial. The memorials are posted, and copies are sent to the family for their input and approval. The listing currently features more than 13,000 memorials, and is constantly updated as new memorials and histories are received.
