Summary: Lee Scot Talkington, 82, of South Heart, ND, passed away on September 27, 2025, surrounded by family and friends. Funeral services were held October 10, 2025 at Stevenson Funeral Home in Dickinson, ND, with Pastor Mike Pretzer officiating. Private interment was at the Belfield Lutheran Cemetery, Belfield, ND, with military rites by the William C. Blair Post #144. Lee was born on January 7, 1943, the son of Harold R. and Madge S. Talkington of Belfield. In his growing up years he worked with his father and brothers Clark and Curt on the Talkington ranch, moving cattle and ranch work. As teenagers, Clark and Lee drove cattle from the Theodore Roosevelt National Park to Belfield. Lee attended school in Belfield graduating in 1960. He attended Dickinson State College and Valley City State College before enlisting in the Army in 1964. Lee served two tours in Viet Nam and was discharged in 1966. Upon returning he finished his college education, earning a Bachelor of Science in education in 1967. Moving to California Lee taught school and worked for the US Postal Service while also taking classes at California State University at Domingues Hills to further his love of learning. Lee married the love of his life “Tiger,” Glenda Sue Tollefson, on September 26, 1985. They celebrated 40 years together on September 26, 2025. World Travelers, they visited such places as the Great Pyramids, Timbuktu, Africa, Southeast Asia, Australia, New Zealand, Europe, Ukraine, Russia, South America, with Lee professing he visited 152 countries. Lee loved playing basketball and baseball in high school and he was a good coach. He played pool for many years on various leagues. His league went to the state tournaments, and he also had a pool table at his house. He also liked bird watching and he fed birds and squirrels for years. No matter where he was, Lee would get out and walk every morning, some days walking 8 to 10 miles. Lee is survived by his wife, Glenda Talkington, and his brothers, Clark (Sandi), and their children; Janice (Brock Johnson); sons Lucas and Blake Johnson. Jody Talkington and (Scott Kim) son Kyan Kim. Joy (Ryan Bailey). Curt (Juanita) and their children Shane (Amanda), daughter Abby, sons Hadley and Cade. Travis (Tabitha) sons Alexander and Christian daughters Victoria and Madison. Lane Stoltz (Jakee) daughter Juniper. Sister in Law Maureen (Marlin) Neidhardt: and their sons, Colt; Clint son Wyatt (Symonne) and their children Elizabeth and Jake; daughter Jessica Neidhardt. Sister in Law Cheryl Tollefson (Doug Pope). He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold R. and Madge S. Talkington, and in-laws, Mark and Elizabeth Tollefson.

Summary: The North Dakota Heritage Family Memorial Program is sponsored by the North Dakota Funeral Directors Association. The life stories of deceased North Dakotans are featured in an archvied collection. Current partners in the project are Eastgate Funeral & Cremation Services, Bismarck Evans Funeral Homes, Carrington and New Rockford Everson-Coughlin Funeral Home, Williston Fulkerson Funeral Home, Tioga Fulkerson Funeral Home, Watford City Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home, Williston Nero Funeral Home, Bottineau Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck Springan Stevenson Funeral Home, Stanley Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson These funeral homes provide recent obituaries to the Foundation, where staff and volunteers format, edit and archive each memorial. The memorials are posted, and copies are sent to the family for their input and approval. The listing currently features more than 13,000 memorials, and is constantly updated as new memorials and histories are received.
