Summary: Angeline “Angie” Schank, 85, Dickinson, ND, passed away December 20, 2020, at her residence. Private funeral Mass was held December 23, 2020, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Father Bill Ruelle celebrating. Burial was in the North Dakota Veteran Cemetery, Mandan, ND. Angeline Schmidt, the daughter of Frank and Minnie Schmidt, was born December 2, 1935, in a sod house built by her parents, 22 miles northwest of Dickinson. She attended her first year of school in country school north of the farmstead. The second and third year of school, Angie lived with her grandmother, Magdalena Schmidt, and attended St. Joseph Catholic School. She lived with her grandfather, Joseph Hushka, during her forth and fifth grade and with Tony and Eleanore Schmidt for her sixth and seventh grade. In 1949 the farmstead was sold and the family moved to Dickinson. Angie graduated from Dickinson High School in 1954. On October 9, 1958, Angeline and Henry Schank were married at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dickinson. Hank and Angie were blessed with three children, Pamela, Russell, and Kelly. Angie worked for Horstman Studio for 22 years painting portraits, a profession she loved. She loved doing volunteer work for various organizations. Angie was involved with the Mrs. Jaycees for many years, helped with organizing the “Taste of the West” for the Sacred Heart Monastery and helped with organizing St. Benedict’s Health Care Center’s “Candlelight Dinner.” Angie was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Parish where she served as a Eucharistic Minister, a member of the worship committee, decorating committee and the environment committee. Angie also discovered a love of traveling and was able to make three trips to Medugorje with Deacon Ron Keller and a trip to Rome with her sister, Bernie. She had amazing experiences on each trip and would have loved to continue seeing the world.  Angie is survived by her husband of 62 years, Henry; two daughters, Pamela (Dennis) Long, of Thornton, CO, and Kelly (Ken) Potts, of Westminster, CO; one son, Russell (Karla) Schank, of Dickinson; four grandchildren, Garrett (Sarita) Schank, of Houston, TX, Kaylee (Jared) Hofland of Taylor, ND, and Lindsey and Morgan Potts, of Westminster; three great-grandchildren, Juliette Schank, Hudson and Bostyn Hofland; one sister, Bernie Horst, of Laramie, WY. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Minnie Schmidt; brother, Dale Schmidt; sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Bob Jones; and brother-in-law, Bob Horst.

Summary: The North Dakota Heritage Family Memorial Program is sponsored by the North Dakota Funeral Directors Association. The life stories of deceased North Dakotans are featured in an archvied collection. Current partners in the project are Eastgate Funeral & Cremation Services, Bismarck Evans Funeral Homes, Carrington and New Rockford Everson-Coughlin Funeral Home, Williston Fulkerson Funeral Home, Tioga Fulkerson Funeral Home, Watford City Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home, Williston Nero Funeral Home, Bottineau Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck Springan Stevenson Funeral Home, Stanley Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson These funeral homes provide recent obituaries to the Foundation, where staff and volunteers format, edit and archive each memorial. The memorials are posted, and copies are sent to the family for their input and approval. The listing currently features more than 13,000 memorials, and is constantly updated as new memorials and histories are received.
