Summary: Catherine “Katie” Dolechek, 87, Dickinson, ND, passed away at Country House on October 14, 2025. Catherine’s Mass of Christian burial was held October 23, 2025, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Dickinson, with Fr. Brandon Wolf celebrating. Interment was at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, ND. Catherine "Katie" Urlacher attended school at the Ott Country School in Hettinger, ND. On May 28, 1957 Katie married Ralph Dolechek at St. Mary's Catholic Church in New England, ND. To this union nine children were born: Kathleen, Dale, Daniel, Mary Kay, Carol, Alvin, David, Renee and Patrick. Katie and Ralph farmed and ranched with her parents, John and Mary Urlacher, southeast of New England from 1957 until 1963 when they moved to Dickinson, ND. Katie is survived by her sons, Dale (Jody), Dickinson, Daniel, Killdeer, ND, Alvin, Wasilla, AK, and David, Dickinson; daughters, Mary Kay (Kevin) Hondl, Carol (Alan) Klatt and Renee (Kelly Olheiser) Dolechek; sisters, Hildegarde Urlacher, Bismarck, Margaret Miller, Mandan, Celestine Praus, Dickinson, Francis (Ernie) Praus, South Heart, ND, Clementine (Bernard) Steffan, Bismarck; 19 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Katie was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph; parents, John and Mary; infant children, Kathleen and Patrick; sister, Maria Weinberger; and daughter-in-law, Jody Dolechek.

Summary: The North Dakota Heritage Family Memorial Program is sponsored by the North Dakota Funeral Directors Association. The life stories of deceased North Dakotans are featured in an archvied collection. Current partners in the project are Eastgate Funeral & Cremation Services, Bismarck Evans Funeral Homes, Carrington and New Rockford Everson-Coughlin Funeral Home, Williston Fulkerson Funeral Home, Tioga Fulkerson Funeral Home, Watford City Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home, Williston Nero Funeral Home, Bottineau Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck Springan Stevenson Funeral Home, Stanley Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson These funeral homes provide recent obituaries to the Foundation, where staff and volunteers format, edit and archive each memorial. The memorials are posted, and copies are sent to the family for their input and approval. The listing currently features more than 13,000 memorials, and is constantly updated as new memorials and histories are received.
