Summary: Kenneth Hartman, 77, Bismarck, formerly of Fargo and Killdeer, ND, died November 30, 2025, in St. Gabriels's Community in Bismarck, ND, of aspiration pneumonia. His funeral Mass will take place at a later date and interment will be in the Killdeer Cemetery. Ken was born May 18, 1948 in Dickinson, ND, the son of George and Stella (Thomas) Hartman. Ken attended the Elk's Camp Grassick and began his education at the Anne Carlson School in Jamestown, followed by the ND School for the Deaf in Devils Lake. He spent his summers and holidays on the family farm north of Killdeer. Ken received training at the Minot Vocational workshop from 1969 until he moved to Fargo in 1985 where his training continued at the Fargo Vocational Training Center. Ken lived independently with assistance from the Community Living Agency until 2008 when he needed skilled nursing care following his bladder cancer diagnosis and moved to Rosewood on Broadway. Ken was a long-time member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Fargo and followed all the Shanley Deacon sports. Ken was a die-hard New York Yankees fan, attended Roger Maris's funeral and met the Maris family. He also followed the Green Bay Packers, the Boston Celtics and his hometown Killdeer Cowboys. When he wasn't following sports, reading his Bible or watching Mass on TV, he enjoyed playing his PlayStation sports games, watching old westerns, The Waltons and Little House on the Prairie. He enjoyed bantering with the staff at Rosewood over the Yankees vs the Twins and the Packers vs the Vikings. In 2023, Ken moved to Benedictine Living in Bismarck where the sports bantering continued. Ken endeared himself to the staff and was cared for with dignity, respect and love. Ken is survived by his brothers and sisters, Dennis Hartman, Killdeer, Phyllis Labasan, Honolulu, HI, Diane Hartman (Richard Ruud), Bismarck, Elaine (Jeff) Klusmann, Mesa, AZ, Char Hartman (Mark Speller), Phoenix, AZ, Myron Hartman, Charleston, SC. Ken is also survived by his nieces and nephews: Janine, Shane, Jerry, Tawni, Mary, Maile, Lani, Erin, Georgia, Nick and Tara and several great- and great-great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, four newborn siblings, and his brother-in-law, Fred Labasan.
