Summary: Doug Kummer, 70, Keene, ND, died February 19, 2021, at his home. Funeral services were held February 26, 2021, at the First Lutheran Church in Keene with Pastor’s Rob Schmidt and Jason Gressman officiating Doug was born February 27, 1950, in Watford City, ND, to Louis and Lillian Veysey Kummer. He was raised on the family farm in the Watford City/Keene area, and he attended and graduated from elementary and high School in Mandaree, ND. Doug worked for various farmers and ranchers when he was younger, and then in the oil field throughout his life. In September 1969, Doug married Jackie Thomas and they had a daughter, Melissa, and a son ,Travis. Years later he met and married Aggie Belcourt in 1987. Doug particularly enjoyed the gardening life in the summer time, and always shared his creation with whoever wanted anything. He also enjoyed fishing and telling stories to anyone that showed up to visit. He is survived by his children, Melissa (Duane) Frick, of Watford City, and Travis Kummer, of Keen; grandchildren, Shadow Heckert, of Casper, WY, Cody Kummer, of Riverton, WY, Dakota Frick and Sierra Frick of Watford City; brothers, Kenny (Kathy) Kummer Miles Kummer, and Mike (Betty) Kummer, all of Keene; sisters, Lorraine (John) Walton, of Lovington, NM, Gladys (James) Greggory, of Midland, TX, Shirley (Robert) Lovaas, of Watford City, Loretta Anderson, of Watford City, Debbie (Randy) Running, of Mesquite, NV, Donna (Kelly) Berg, of Valdosta, GA, Linda (Jerry) Wil,son of Tacoma, WA; sister-in-law, Leveta Kummer; and numerous nieces and nephews. Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Lillian Kummer; siblings, Fern (Don) Snell, Cindy (Gary) Hicks, Jerome Kummer, David Kummer, Stanley Kummer, and Clayton Kummer; nieces, Colleen Norby, Cleo Ennis, and Charlotte Walton; nephew, Chad Running; and grandson, Levi Frick.

Summary: The North Dakota Heritage Family Memorial Program is sponsored by the North Dakota Funeral Directors Association. The life stories of deceased North Dakotans are featured in an archvied collection. Current partners in the project are Eastgate Funeral & Cremation Services, Bismarck Evans Funeral Homes, Carrington and New Rockford Everson-Coughlin Funeral Home, Williston Fulkerson Funeral Home, Tioga Fulkerson Funeral Home, Watford City Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home, Williston Nero Funeral Home, Bottineau Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck Springan Stevenson Funeral Home, Stanley Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson These funeral homes provide recent obituaries to the Foundation, where staff and volunteers format, edit and archive each memorial. The memorials are posted, and copies are sent to the family for their input and approval. The listing currently features more than 13,000 memorials, and is constantly updated as new memorials and histories are received.
