Summary: Elaine Gray, 99, Stanley, ND, passed away peacefully October 30, 2022, at the Mountrail County Bethel Home in Stanley. Funeral services were held November 8, 2022, at the Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Church in Stanley.Interment was in Fairview Cemetery at Stanley. Elaine Noss was born September 15, 1923, in Blaisdell, ND, to Alvin and Edna Noss. She graduated from Stanley High School in 1941 and attended Minot Teachers College where she received her teaching degree. On September 5, 1946, Elaine married Jim Gray in Stanley where they lived and raised their four children. They were married 66 years before Jim’s death at the age of 92. Elaine was an accomplished pianist and organist. She played the organ for Mass at the Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church for many years and also played for many weddings and funerals. She loved playing cards, especially bridge, and belonged to many bridge clubs throughout the years. She was an active member of McDowell Music Club for 50 years and belonged to a homemakers club. She was an avid reader and loved taking care of her family. In their retirement, Jim and Elaine spent many winters in Arizona, California, and Texas. They loved to watch their children and grandchildren play sports. Even after all their grandchildren were finished playing, they continued to be enthusiastic supporters of all SHS sports teams. They traveled many miles to support the various athletic teams. Elaine is survived by her daughters, Kathie (Bill) Everett, of Point Venture, TX, and Joan (Daryl) Drader, of Rochester, NY; her sons, Bryan Gray and Marshall (Jennine) Gray, both of Stanley; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Elaine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jim; her brothers, Darrell and Jim; and her daughter-in-law, Claudia Gray.

Summary: The North Dakota Heritage Family Memorial Program is sponsored by the North Dakota Funeral Directors Association. The life stories of deceased North Dakotans are featured in an archvied collection. Current partners in the project are Eastgate Funeral & Cremation Services, Bismarck Evans Funeral Homes, Carrington and New Rockford Everson-Coughlin Funeral Home, Williston Fulkerson Funeral Home, Tioga Fulkerson Funeral Home, Watford City Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home, Williston Nero Funeral Home, Bottineau Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck Springan Stevenson Funeral Home, Stanley Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson These funeral homes provide recent obituaries to the Foundation, where staff and volunteers format, edit and archive each memorial. The memorials are posted, and copies are sent to the family for their input and approval. The listing currently features more than 13,000 memorials, and is constantly updated as new memorials and histories are received.
