Summary: Irene Wald, 64, Dickinson, ND, passed away January 30, 2022, at her home in Dickinson after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. Funeral services were held February 7, 2022, at St. John’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Lisa Lewton officiating. Irene Lind was born December 14, 1957, the daughter of Elmer and Clara (Long) Lind in Oakes, ND. She grew up on a farm outside of Verona, ND, graduating from Verona High School in 1976. She met George Wald while in high school and after graduation she moved to Dickinson, to be closer to him. George and Irene married August 30, 1980, and together they raised their three children, Nicole, Jenna, and Alex in Dickinson. Irene started her professional career as a bank teller and after a brief time as a child care provider, she joined Consolidated in 1992. In 2016 after a 24-year career at Consolidated, Irene retired as Corporate Affairs Director. In her early years Irene was active in cheerleading and bowling league. Later she enjoyed pinochle club, playing slot machines, and playing Mexican train with family and friends. She enjoyed family vacations and destination trips with friends. More than anything, Irene loved being a grandmother; she enjoyed watching sporting events and participating in the grandparent cheering section at Quade’s baseball and hockey games. She is survived by her husband, George; her children, Jenna Wald, of Phoenix, AZ, Alex Wald, of Boise, ID, and Nicole (Ryan) Daniel, with grandson, Quade Peters, of West Fargo, ND; siblings, Gary (Karen) Lind, of Milton, MA, Judy (Judd) Chidlow, of Shreveport, LA, Bonnie (Ronald) Henrickson, of Verona, and Loretta Rasmusson, of Fargo, ND; in-laws, Irvin Kuch, of St. Cloud, MN, Curtis Carik, of Bismarck, ND, Alvin (Diane) Wald, of Berlin, ND, and Joyce Wald, of LaMoure, ND; and father-in-law, Stanley Wald, of Lisbon, ND. Irene was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Clara Lind; mother-in-law, Irene Wald; stepmother, Gertrude Lind; sisters-in-law, Mary Kuch and Donna Carik; brother-in-law, Bruce Rasmusson; and nephew, Cody Carik.

Summary: The North Dakota Heritage Family Memorial Program is sponsored by the North Dakota Funeral Directors Association. The life stories of deceased North Dakotans are featured in an archvied collection. Current partners in the project are Eastgate Funeral & Cremation Services, Bismarck Evans Funeral Homes, Carrington and New Rockford Everson-Coughlin Funeral Home, Williston Fulkerson Funeral Home, Tioga Fulkerson Funeral Home, Watford City Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home, Williston Nero Funeral Home, Bottineau Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck Springan Stevenson Funeral Home, Stanley Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson These funeral homes provide recent obituaries to the Foundation, where staff and volunteers format, edit and archive each memorial. The memorials are posted, and copies are sent to the family for their input and approval. The listing currently features more than 13,000 memorials, and is constantly updated as new memorials and histories are received.
