Summary: Maynard Schwindt, 64, of Dickinson, ND, passed away December 23, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family. Funeral liturgy was held December 30, 2025, at Stevenson Funeral Home with Deacon Bob Stockert officiating. Burial was in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Dickinson. Maynard was born on December 14, 1961, in Dickinson, to Jerome and Clemy "Frank" Schwindt. Dickinson was more than just where Maynard lived - it was home in every sense of the word. It was where he grew up, raised his family, worked hard, and formed lifelong friendships. After graduating from Dickinson High School, Maynard worked alongside his dad at Fisher Industries for ten years, an experience he always valued. He later went to work for Dakota Church Furniture, where he found his true passion in carpentry. Working with his hands came naturally to Maynard, and he took great pride in building, fixing, and creating things that would last. Maynard married Shari McCabe on June 20, 1987, in their backyard - a simple, meaningful celebration that reflected who they were. Together they raised three sons, Bryan, Travis, and Clayton, who were the center of Maynard's world. Maynard was known for his steady, dependable nature and strong work ethic. He was not a man of many words, but those who knew him knew they could always count on him. In his free time, he enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, woodworking, and tinkering with mechanical projects. He had a natural curiosity and could fix just about anything with patience and determination. A lifelong Minnesota Vikings fan, Maynard stayed devoted to his team through every season, watching games with family - even those cheering for the Green Bay Packers - and sharing in the lighthearted rivalry and laughter! Maynard found joy in spending time with his family, especially over lunch at places where he could also try his luck at a slot machine! He often came out a winner, but what he enjoyed most was the time together and the smiles it brought to those around him. Above all else, Maynard valued his family. He showed his love not through grand gestures, but through being present, helping when needed, and quietly supporting those he cared about. His love for his family and his steady presence will be deeply missed. Maynard is survived by his wife, Shari, of Dickinson; his sons, Bryan Schwindt, Travis (Beth) Schwindt, and Clayton Schwindt; his brother, Scott (Robbin) Schwindt; and his sisters, Pam (Ray) Kilwein, Rita (Steve) Ries, and Sharon (Terry) McCloud. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Greg Schwindt; in-laws, William (Mike) and Jo McCabe; brother-in-law, Michael McCabe and sister-in-law, Kelly Reiniger.
