Summary: Alexander Kazantsev, 87, of Tioga, ND, passed away February 15, 2026, at Tioga Long Term Care. His funeral was held February 20, 2026, at Zion Lutheran Church in Tioga. Burial was in United Cemetery, Tioga. Alexander Kazantsev was born in the village of Pokrovskoye near the city of Nizhniy Taghil, Russia, in 1938. His father Myron was a shoemaker and a saddler. His mother Evdokia was a homemaker raising 5 children. Alexander (Sasha for short) had two brothers and two sisters. He was the 2nd child in the family. In his early age, he worked as a shepherd on a collective farm taking care of cows and horses. He loved riding horses and taking care of them. At the age of 18 he was conscripted for military service for three years. Sasha liked his military years in Moscow where he had a chance to see many well-known people: presidents, kings and politicians. He was in great physical shape and always enjoyed physical work. He also enjoyed watching soccer and hockey. In 1965 he got married and moved to his wife Liudmila in the city of Sverdlovsk. There he found a job as a metal mechanic where he has achieved the highest qualification in his profession. Sasha was a good family man, he had two daughters, Yulia and Vera. He liked shopping, spending time with his daughters in the summer shack, and picking berries and mushrooms in the forest. His wife Liudmila and he were inseparable - they did everything together. Sasha's father taught how to fix shoes, so he used to repair shoes for all his family and he enjoyed doing it. Sasha was a very hard-working, quiet, reserved and laconic man. He had been respected and valued at work as an excellent specialist. In 2012 Sasha and his wife emigrated to their younger daughter Vera to the USA. He enjoyed his living here; he studied English and was granted US citizenship. He liked spending time with his grandkids, building icy castles and slides for them, and decorating the house for Christmas with lights. He was also busy with gardening, cleaning snow and enjoying his time outdoors. In 2024 his beloved wife Liudmila died and he missed her a lot.
