Summary: Lori Cheezem, 65, passed away March 17, 2026, at her home in Carrington, ND. Lori Elizabeth Cheezem was born on February 8, 1961, to Robert and Kathleen (Matthews) Cheezem in Albany, GA. She had lived in several states as a child of an Army NCO. Lori received a master’s in human resource management and instructional design at Clemson University in Clemson, SC, a BA in business administration at Idaho State University, attended Florida State University, Tallahassee, FL, and the University of Montana during undergraduate studies. She was a member of SHERM. As an adult, she worked in Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, Ohio, California, Idaho, and Alaska. She loved Alaska and enjoyed the last three years of her life as a resident of Carrington, ND. She was retired and had worked as a human resource director and as an instructional systems designer. Lori was a person full of life, generous to others, and had a special place in her heart for any animal in need. She was a hard worker who didn’t give in when it came to matters of justice, fairness, and “doing what is right.” She loved helping others in any way she could. Lori enjoyed traveling, photography, cooking and fishing. She made handmade cement vessels. She was one to help cats and dogs in need. Her most recent endeavor was to learn how to use lasers for etching and cutting various materials. Lori is survived by her brother, Robert (Shelley Woods) Cheezem; sisters, Marla Cheezem and Claire Cheezem Trimble; three nephews, Michael, Scott, and Matthew Cheezem. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert (2001) and Kathleen Cheezem (2016); her grandparents, William and Eva (Moss) Cheezem and Lyndsay and Annie Ida (Dunlap) Matthews; and partner in life, Tommy Broome.

Summary: The North Dakota Heritage Family Memorial Program is sponsored by the North Dakota Funeral Directors Association. The life stories of deceased North Dakotans are featured in an archvied collection. Current partners in the project are Eastgate Funeral & Cremation Services, Bismarck Evans Funeral Homes, Carrington and New Rockford Everson-Coughlin Funeral Home, Williston Fulkerson Funeral Home, Tioga Fulkerson Funeral Home, Watford City Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home, Williston Nero Funeral Home, Bottineau Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck Springan Stevenson Funeral Home, Stanley Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson These funeral homes provide recent obituaries to the Foundation, where staff and volunteers format, edit and archive each memorial. The memorials are posted, and copies are sent to the family for their input and approval. The listing currently features more than 13,000 memorials, and is constantly updated as new memorials and histories are received.
