Summary: Chandler Lightning, 34, passed away April 27, 2026, at St. Michael, ND. A funeral service was held May 5, 2026, at St. Michael Catholic Church. Burial was at the Double M Ranch Family Cemetery, St. Michael. Chandler John Lightning, the son of the late Tommy Lawrence Lightning and Candice Grace Anderson, was born on November 15, 1991, with his twin brother Chancelor Lawrence, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. He was raised on Samson Cree Nation in Hobbema, Alberta, Canada, until the age of 10 when his father passed away. He then moved to St. Michael, ND, and was raised by his mother, grandmother, and grandfather. He was baptized at St. Michael Catholic Church and made his first communion. He started playing hockey at the age of 5 with his twin brother; he played for the Devils Lake Firebirds from age 5 until he graduated high school at Four Winds in 2010. While attending there, he played football and basketball, and also enjoyed outdoor activities. He attended Cankdeska Cikina Community College. Growing up, he enjoyed playing poker and gaming with his cousins. His dream was to play hockey for the University of North Dakota and, from there, play for the NHL. His favorite hockey team was the Tampa Bay Lightning. He loved dancing?traditional, where he traveled to powwows with his family. Chandler met Bobbiette Littleghost in 2012 and had three children: Chandler Jr, Channing, and Chandley Lightning. He loved being a father and cherished his children very much! Chandler enjoyed spending time with his mother, twin brother,?and sister. Chandler is survived by his mother, Candice Anderson; twin brother, Chancelor Lawrence; sister, Chastity (Kenneth Jr.); his three loving children, Chandler Jr., Channing and Chandley Lightning; aunt, Tina Lightning and uncle, Brian Lightning of Hobbema AB, Canada; uncles, Gregory and Norman Demarrias; aunt, Joy (Davey) Davidson; nieces, Caydence, Carissa, Caiyah and Cailyn; nephews, Tommy and Cain. Chandler was preceded in death by his father, Tommy Lightning; grandparents, Lawrence and Louisa Lightning; uncles, Dennis, Lester, Floyd and Gerald Lightning; aunts, Gloria Crier and Betty Soosay; cousins, Trent and Robbie Redcrow; grandparents, Marvin and Marlene Anderson; uncles, Gary and Mathew Demarrias and Marvin Anderson, Jr.; aunts, Valerie Merrick and Tammy Lightning; and cousin, Grant Davison.

Summary: The North Dakota Heritage Family Memorial Program is sponsored by the North Dakota Funeral Directors Association. The life stories of deceased North Dakotans are featured in an archvied collection. Current partners in the project are Eastgate Funeral & Cremation Services, Bismarck Evans Funeral Homes, Carrington and New Rockford Everson-Coughlin Funeral Home, Williston Fulkerson Funeral Home, Tioga Fulkerson Funeral Home, Watford City Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home, Williston Nero Funeral Home, Bottineau Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck Springan Stevenson Funeral Home, Stanley Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson These funeral homes provide recent obituaries to the Foundation, where staff and volunteers format, edit and archive each memorial. The memorials are posted, and copies are sent to the family for their input and approval. The listing currently features more than 13,000 memorials, and is constantly updated as new memorials and histories are received.
