Summary: Glenn Allen Cudworth, 89, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on June 11, 2026, at the Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd in New Rockford, ND.. A graveside service was held June 23, 2026, at Grace City Cemetery, Grace City, ND. Glenn was born September 19, 1936, in New Rockford, ND, to Clair and Leone (Williams) Cudworth.  At the age of five, his parents bought the farmstead that Glenn would call home for the next 80 years.  He began farming with his father at the age of fourteen.  Trapping and hunting, caring for the sheep and cattle, and tending crops were how he spent his days.  He mastered carpentry skills, enjoyed motorcycles, and learned to fly airplanes.  He always felt fortunate to have grown up in the midst of his parents’ large families, having many uncles close by to share their knowledge and skills.  His shop, where he tore down engines and repaired machinery, was an integral part of his work.   In 1965, Glenn married Judith Short in McHenry, ND.  Together, they raised two daughters, Diane and Cheryl.  Early in their marriage, Glenn moved a house to the farm, and over the next year, he used his carpentry skills to refinish the house into their home.  Glenn’s protective and caring nature was evidenced by his care of his parents in their later years, allowing them to age in place, and by his and Judy’s volunteer time on the New Rockford Ambulance Service. After selling their cattle herd, Glenn and Judy began a twenty-plus-year trek to the Black Hills of South Dakota to spend their winters. Glenn enjoyed retirement in the small western town of Sturgis.  He soon built a shop to spend time doing carpentry and working on engines.  Many Sunday afternoons would find new people around their dining room table enjoying a good meal and company.  Glenn delighted in hosting friends and family from up north by showing them around his adopted home.  Even though his daughters and families lived far away, much effort was made in visiting them and hosting them at the family farm in the summertime.  The grandkids enjoyed semi truck rides, learning the art of driving a stick shift, procuring great finds at auction sales, and establishing a respect for animals and nature.  Glenn and Judy made a point to travel to the homes of their daughters, to include Hawaii, Alabama, California, Japan, and Washington DC. Glenn is survived by his wife of 61 years, Judy; two daughters, Diane (Arthur) Yri and Cheryl (Michael) Erhardt; five grandchildren, Dr. Glenn (Miriam) Yri, Aaron Yri, Jessica (Zach) McGill, Morgan Erhardt and Dr. Jack Erhardt; three great-grandchildren, one soon-to-be born great-granddaughter; sister, Marlys (Merle) Hanson; brother, Douglas; sisters-in-law, Becky Cudworth, Maxine Olson, Linda Somerville, Ruth Zidon, Darlis Short, Linda Marie Short, Lois Short, Shirley Short, Janet Short; and numerous nephews and nieces.  Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, Clair and Leone Cudworth; sister, Margie (Joe) Anderson; brother, Clair; mother- and father-in-law, Rutherford and Deana Short; and numerous brothers- and sisters-in-law.

Summary: The North Dakota Heritage Family Memorial Program is sponsored by the North Dakota Funeral Directors Association. The life stories of deceased North Dakotans are featured in an archvied collection. Current partners in the project are Eastgate Funeral & Cremation Services, Bismarck Evans Funeral Homes, Carrington and New Rockford Everson-Coughlin Funeral Home, Williston Fulkerson Funeral Home, Tioga Fulkerson Funeral Home, Watford City Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home, Williston Nero Funeral Home, Bottineau Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck Springan Stevenson Funeral Home, Stanley Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson These funeral homes provide recent obituaries to the Foundation, where staff and volunteers format, edit and archive each memorial. The memorials are posted, and copies are sent to the family for their input and approval. The listing currently features more than 13,000 memorials, and is constantly updated as new memorials and histories are received.
