Summary: Correspondence, printed material, subject files, reports, studies, photographs, slides, and notes relating to Indians, archeology, administration of the State Historical Society of North Dakota, historic sites, natural history, research, and personal and business affairs. Collection includes the diary and transcript of Joe Flying Eagle, 1913-1959. Among the 12,547 photographic slides, prints and negatives in the collection are copies of work by photographers such as Frances Densmore, L. A. Huffman, Gilbert L. Wilson, Edward S. Curtis and Ernst Steinbrueck which were used at the Three Affiliated Tribes Museum. The vast majority of the images in the collection are slides created by Ewald.
