Title: Before the Bridge and Ferry
Date: 1902
Summary: It wasn't always an easy task to cross the Little Missouri River before Chalconer's Ferry was established on the present Highway 85 bridge. IN 1902 Herb Jenner and Joe Dewhirst had the sad experience of getting stuck with their wagons in the middle of the river and the water wasn't as low as it is today. The picture was taken at the old Diamond C crossing, and while old and faded, it shows the wagons. Joe Dewhirst is sitting on the wagon and Herb Jenner is riding the horse. On the bank watching the rescue is Mrs. Ole T. Olson holding her son Gordon. The other lady is Mrs. Fred Madson. The three little boys are Nels and Anders Madson and Clark Jenner.
