Title: Interior of A L Cody's Homestead Shack
Date: ca. 1906
Inscription/Marks: Notations on the back identify the homestead shack, attibute ownership of original to Mrs. Phyllis Teigen of Gascoyne, and cite page 150 of Prairie Tales.
Summary: From the book Prairie Tales, a history of Bowman County (N.D.), this photograph shows the interior of the one-room homestead shack of A.L. "Roy" Cady. The unfinished walls are hung with basins and washtub. A pan and bucket sit on a shelf by the corner of the bed, and a broom and a sack of flour lean near the stove. The stove itself has a stovepipe oven built into the pipe, and has a coffee pot and a large kettle sitting on the cooktop.
