Summary: From the book Prairie Tales, a history of Bowman County (N.D.), this photograph is of the Codyville (N.D.) schoolhouse. The schoolhouse is a rectangular building with a hipped roof with exposed rafter tails. Two sides are shown, one contains the deep-set entry door, and the other contains three tall, deep-set, double-hung widows. The walls are built of sod, and the roof is thatched with sod as well. The ground is packed down around the building, and nothing but prairie can be seen beyond.
