Title: Mark J. Halvorson removing boundary marker from Pembina County (N.D.)

Summary: Mark J. Halvorson stabilizes boundary marker as a truck starts pulling it from the ground in a park in Pembina County (N.D.). Originally marking the boundary line between North Dakota and Canada, the marker has raised letters that read: October 20, 1818. [Referring to: On October 20, 1818, in order to improve relations in the wake of the War of 1812, Great Britain and the United States agree to peaceful coexistence in the Pacific Northwest by signing the Convention of 1818 (also known as the Treaty of Joint Occupation) in London.]

Summary: Consists of Halvorson, Bischoff, and Schwann family photographs. Image subjects include portraits of family members, gardens, farming activities, winter, ice fishing, Norwegians, and Germans from Russia. There are several images of Mark J. Halvorson's work at the State Historical Society of North Dakota.
