Summary: Composite of three photographs of North Dakota State Penitentiary buildings, work areas, and the Warden's house. The Penitentiary is located Bismarck (N.D.), where is was established before statehood. The first image is a overview of the prison, in view is the twine plant, the sisal and twine warehouses, carpenter shop , all of which are brick structures. There are several freight cars of the Minneapolis, St. Paul and Sault Saint Marie line on the track that runs between the buildings. Photograph #02, cut into a circle, shows the front of the Warden's house, a handsome brick two-story building with a high attic and dormer windows. The lower photograph, #03, shows the garden and green house in between the long brick two and three story cell houses. Flowers have been planted in different areas and gardens in others. The A. B. Gilbert photograph appears in the Nonpartisan Leader, Vol. 4, No. 8, February 22 1917, p.05., and accompanies an article by Ralph Harmon. The photos have been cropped and the surrounding mat decorated.

Summary: Images of agriculture, the Nonpartisan League, and buildings. Many of the images were used in the Nonpartisan Leader. Photographs were taken in Bismarck, Brantford, Buffalo Spring, Esmond, Fargo, Hekton, McKenzie, Pretty Rock, Williston and Wyndmere (N.D.).
