Title: Gov. John Burke and his family in the north parlor of the old Governor's Mansion, Bismarck (N.D.)
Date: 1912
Inscription/Marks: On the back: 0071-3.
Summary: Tenth Governor of North Dakota, John Burke sits in a large leather chair, his wife and three children around the parlor table with him. The older daughter, Elizabeth stands with her hand on her father's shoulder. Next to her stands her younger brother Thomas, wearing a double-breasted jacket. Mrs. Burke, Mary E. Kane Burke, sits at the other end of the table from her husband, in a dark dress with lace inset at the neck. Young Marian Burke sits in the foreground on a stool by the table, wearing a large light colored bow in her hair, and a knee-length light dress with embroidered hem. A baby doll is on her lap. Her sister is dressed in a light dress, with a wide soft sash and lace accenting the boat-neck of the bodice. "Honest" John Burke held the office of Governor from 1907-1913.
